This year the host will be the Florida Yacht Club on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. The FYC was the last checkpoint on last years' run. The Florida Yacht Club in Jacksonville is Florida's oldest continuous yacht club. The facilities are 5 Star for boaters and those who appreciate fine dining and quality surroundings. The Florida Yacht Club is host to several major boating events throughout the year, most of them being sailing regattas, including the recently held J24 Nationals.
The club house was built in the early 1900's and has recently has its historic and intricate ceiling woodwork meticulously and beautifully restored. FYC offers it's own private launch ramp capable of handling larger powerboats with ease, and superior docking facilities as well as ample (and secure) parking for visiting trailered boats and their tow vehicles (over 40 J24's were brought in from around the country and were launched and stored there - I think they will be able to handle us). Saturday evening will be a sit-down dinner in the club (resort evening dining attire) with a stunning view of the river and the city skyline. Awesome prizes, door prizes, auction items. Ah, yes. Just what the doctor (and your First Mate) ordered.
The Friday night party, Saturday morning breakfast, and Saturday night dinner and party will all be held at the FYC. Lunch will once again be at the Jacksonville Landing. All meals all included in the price.
Registration for this premier event will cost only $250 per boat, which includes all meals for the Captain and his First Mate. Additional Crew can be registered at $50 each.
I will be providing a list of hotels shortly. All will be located at the intersection of I-295 and US 17 in Jacksonville (Orange Park, FL). Out-of-towners are encouraged to make their own arrangements. You can safely leave your boat and trailer at the Florida Yacht Club (24 hour secruity).

Need encouragement? Last year, the top hand won a $10,000 Mercury Marine inflatable and outboard motor. Second place got a 60" flat screen TV. Awards went all the way to the 15th place.

SEADOG's and all those reading this post have right of first refusal for entry, which is always limited to 50 boats.
Contact me here, e-mail, or cell, and I will mail you a Captains package for registration.

Questions? Call me at (904) 534-9928 or post them here for all to share.

This is our 10th year for this event and 100% of the proceeds go to Angel Aid, a hospice for terminally ill children.

The following motels are located at the immediate intersection of I-295 and US 17 at the south border of the City of Jacksonville. All are located in a very close grouping close together in the city of Orange Park, Florida. This location is exactly 5.3 miles from the Florida Yacht Club and presents the absolute best location for out-of-towners to stay for this event. It is a very simple and direct drive. All are national chains and phone numbers can be found on the internet for the Orange Park locations. Restaurants abound in the immediate area. And the least expensive gas station in Northeast Florida is right in the middle of them - Raceway gas. All of these motels offer discounts for AAA, AARP, government (military active and retirees), and corporate rates. All of the are pleasant and the older ones have all b een recently refurbished to keep up with the competition.

Hey Mark, I will not be able to make Angle Aid. I will be in Indiana visiting my daughter. I know, this is another Seadogs event I have missed, but I don't get to see my daughter very much.

Hope everyone understands.

Sorry to all the Dogs...

Bud

I'm not certain about the SEADOGs hotel. I posted a list of hotels in Orange Park and suggested the out-of-towners select one. I have not had any response from anyone about which one they preferred. I have to be honest and tell you I will be running back and forth from my house to the Florida Yacht Club. The partying at the FYC on Friday night and Saturday night may be all anyone needs, You can leave your boat and trailer quite safely at the FYC. I intend to do so.
We are serving lunch and dinner on Friday, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, all as part of your registration, so selecting a hotel for ammenities is a waste of money. You can do all of that and more at the FYC. Cooling off in their big pool after the run is also a good choice. Drinks can be served at the pool by the club staff. Even the huge locker rooms are great for a nice clean shower and change of clothes. FYC is 5 Star, so enjoy it! Go for the Motel 6 for sleeping. No sense in wasting money on the pricier ones. Leave your boat and trailer at the FYC and you will sleep without worry. No need to peek out the window from behind the closed drapes every few minutes to see if someone is messing with your boat.

So far we have 8 SEADOGs and 37 "wannabe's" like Fountains and Baja's and Velocity's, and Sonic's. We cap at 49 boats so that we don't have to get a permit from the Coast Guard for the event. This year the parties will also be filled with the members of the Florida Yacht Club. They are paying the full registration fee just to enjoy the parties and the auctions. They also get to "buy" a poker hand even if they didn't run. Seems the two casino nights were just way too tempting for them to let us be the only ones to play. They are pretty excited to have us.
Oh, Baby, OOOHHH!!!!
And looks like exfellent weather, so far. Temps in the mid-80's and not too much of that Florida liquid sunshine in the forecast.

Are there any cost for parking the boat at the FYC docs for the event weekend? Also, any cost for parking truck and trailer in the secured parking area?
