I left the X-18 in Tex's shop and the deck came off while I was not looking!

We will hoist it up for some glass work. As part of the process we plan to replace the fuel tank.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement tank for the x-18?

I am thinking that the same tank for a classic 18 would work. It would be good to go to a larger tank in the process as the old tank was only 25 gal.

I had RDS in Perry Florida make me a 41 gal. tank for my 18. Should work fine for yours. Do a search on Fuel Tanks and you should be able to find the drawings with the part #. If I was at home I could link it. The guy I talked to at RDS is Richard Carr.

Here's the tank. If you go with RDS, all they need is the RDS number at the bottom right. Oh and $400
BTW, Rootsy is the designer I believe. A great big thanks to:beer: you!!

A few years ago I called the company on the tag of my old tank. Turned out they changed their name since 1977 to, yup RDS. They still had the prints and shipped me a new one, 60 gallon belly tank, was over $400.

Please paypal $49.95 to Rootsy's 18 Donzi restoration fund for use of such wonderful proprietary information ;) Anyone needs prints for hydraulic steering???? :D ;) :smash:

that tank volumes out at just under 34 gallons... I had Florida Marine Tanks make it for me... was just under $500 delivered to my door COD. Shipping was something like $100 which is a crock as i TOLD them how much the MOFO weighed... i 3D modeled the SOB in Solidworks... it TELLS me the volume, mass and CG... but i digress...

BTW FMT didn't bother to put in the sight glass level sender... unlike my request... anywho... if you call them they have my tank on file in THEIR BLUEPRINT format... i have it somewhere...

you MUST move the bulkhead behind the existing tank to use this.. it must move rearward something like 12 inches... this allows you to still have FULL access to the center locker as the bulkhead falls just forward of the opening...

if you need a BIGGER & CLEARER print fire me an email eh...

BG, I have the tank out of an 04 18.. Boat had forty hrs on it when it got smooshed, but the tank is OK.. NO idea how much to ship, but I could load it on a pallet, do some weighing and measuring, and get ya a quote from Roadwy and yellow, we have commercial accounts with em.... Price on the tank would be VERY right...
PM or email me a shipping addy, I'll get my guys on it Tues. if you want...

Sounds good. I will send you the address of my marina in the am

UPS and FEDEX will ship anything under 150 lbs, even on a pallet, non-freight as that is how i sent Foster my Alpha SS...

FMT sent my tank regular UPS too... my aluminum tank, from that print, again weights under 50 lbs

Figured i'd mention that i noticed VonKamp changed the attachment and the above statement about fitment is no longer valid with that tank....

Will an RDS 59182 fit an X-18 or C18?

Looking like a couple of inches too tall (or so) and 2 inches too narrow.

Just waiting to check into Poodles tank. Have funds need tank. The stringers, transom and other inner hull work should be done this week. The 383, transom assembly and drive should be in on Fri.

Yes, I had the bulkhead taken out so we can use the 40 gal!

I would say that things are moving along nicely but am sure that I will hit some nice snag.

Not in mine... Too narrow, too tall in the front and holes in all the wrong places for an old 18.
