Rumor has it, that there is one out there, from the factory. Anyone have any more information?
Must be a rocket, not to mention $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, the "blue motor" 500's were $60,000 - $80,000 3/4 years ago.
Wonder if they addressed the hull (construction) issues, other than a kevlar layup?

Are you refering to the black 06' w/525 & shorty? It's not a Shelby though.

I understand there is a Shelby also. Was the black one from the factory. Do I remember you once checking to see if they would build you one, and they said no?
Actually, it did have an AE hatch.

Say if someone dropped a MERC 525 in their boat would you HAVE to install K-Planes or would bennets be okay......Just Curious :) :) I know Hydraulic steering is a no brainer...

Is it an optical illusion or is that a LEFTY wheel on the shorty?????

There is a guy here in Sweden/Stockholm that owns a 22 classic with a Mercruiser racing 525.. He have some problem with proprides, even with the KIEKHAEFER TRIM TABS...
But it goes like hell!!
I told him to sign up here, but I havn't seen him, yet..
Lefts are faster....
Damn I keep forgetting they are much faster running on the flat side:bonk:

Yep, we asked for a customer in TX. They said "NO" then about 8-months later they built one. Guess we asked the wrong person.
All right so now I'm confused. Is this the black hull-side one that was for sale on Boat Trader a few months ago? Looks like it is since that one had solid black upholstery and a left hand prop. Suggested Retail would have to be pretty darn close to $100K since the 03' SE was $89.7K.
By late next week the blue motor 22-C count in FL is gonna go up by one. My boat leaves for it's homecoming trip on Monday. :convertib

Thanks I thought so. Anyway, can someone relay how it runs, and any other info, all must agree it's a "bad" factory boat !
And about that hull issue, ummmmmmmm, thought the 496 had to much hp ?

is a bit of a quandry. I looked at it pretty hard as a possible "phase 2" to the SE experience. I decided to keep what I have, mainly because I have it dialed in to where it runs pretty darn good.
I do have the build sheet on this boat. The kevlar is there, supposedly a $10K option. The drive is a normal length sportmaster set 1.5 inches higher than normal, turning a 27 Mirage LH.
Boat supposedly runs lower 80's, but with a lot of tab. With hours in the teens, I doubt it really has been dialed in. The "expert" selling it is the owner's mechanic and a lot of the setup things he was talking about just didn't make any sense at all, so who knows what to believe.
The primary issues that I had with the boat were the gauge cluster running all the way over to the passenger side to allow a GPS plotter to be placed in front of the driver, the white transom with a black stripe when the rest of the boat is solid black, and the black seats. Just odd.
At the right price, and with some patience to dial it in, I think this boat would be very cool in the Donzi-phile community. I bet it is still for sale, so somebody go get it.

What is the reasoning of running a lefty wheel, even with the prop shaft that high it has to torque the boat over.

Planes, hydraulic steering, XR, 525, shift/throttle, raised Donzi letters, very cool boat. Some quirky stuff I agree, the dash layout, lefty prop, unnecessary scoop on hatch, black seats. Very cool tho overall, I'd take it. 90mph, i doubt it, low 80s sounds closer.

Add an ITS and it is the ultimate 22 Classic.
