working new? prefered nicley used i dont want to rebuild the one i have the guy wants $800 velvet trans 1:1 or was told volvo makes a better tranny thay will bolt up to my velvet/chev bellhousing running a 454 omc and factory v drive no idea what gears are in it

More than likely, the tranny you have is 1:1. You would see the reduction gear box hanging off the back of yours if it was reduced.
Why don't you want to rebuild yours?
I just rebuilt a Borg-Warner Velvet Drive 1:1 for under $100. It's not all that hard, and you can buy the kit from any big marine parts warehouse joint.
In my town we use Glen-Mar, and of course we have an account with them. I think the kit was under a hundred, but may have been cheaper.
I'll bet MadPoodle can get you a deal on the kit.
Any other parts (snap rings, etc.) can be had from a trans parts place. Gears and that type of thing are going to have to come from a Borg-Warner parts place...I think anyway.
