Has anyone ever heard of Python Boats? I saw one for sale, its an 18' and looks very similar to a Donzi. I was wondering if anyone has any info on these boats.

Thanks

The 18 is a Donzi pop. They made a good boat. Talk to BigGrizzly about them; he knows'em well.

I may be wrong but I don't think they were still making them in 2001.

IIRC, his name was Jim Clark? Regardless, he definately stopped making them several years ago and I read he passed away recently......

Thank you for the reply's. The boat does look nice I just didn't know for sure about the quality since its not an authentic Donzi. The price seems reasonable so I may take a look.

I know the ad says it's an 18....

but, doesn't it look more like a 16?? freeboard? high transom? short foredeck?

I remember an 18' I rode in . Good looking boat. Built for smooth water though. Then in the 80's, I recall a 24' which rode well. Not a Donzi though.

Nearly bought a Python 24 before my Sutphen 26.
From what I've heard they've screwed together some good boats and some average boats.
If you're looking for the 16 or 18, I'd stay with a true Donzi.

I saw the new home for the Molds on the 24 a few months back.

Some one is a very trusting person with a running boat . . or they are hiding in the boat:)

did anyone else notice the driver in the Python??

I believe Python's 18 pop was called a Vyper. I'd hold out for the real deal Donzi.

Were built in Cummings Ga when the company was operating. Remember reading an article a few years back about the Vyper. The one in the article ran 80 mph out of the box. Not bad for a stock production boat. Article said it was a pretty quality boat, but small production numbers.

Python is a decent boat. My boss used to have one but the build quality was OK not fantastic, and yes Jim Clark passed not long ago
