JW,
Like I said, here is the pop up, you can see the raft and trailer that I started towing behind it. If you look close you can see the hitch I welded on. The trailer actually has one ton axles believe it or not. It is the "new" style. Mudder tires, lift to go places regular pop-ups can't go. Great for weekend fly fishing gettaways, or with the 16C, a weekend at the lake. We put a 4 wheeler on the front deck to do shuttles when we are flyfishing and floating the river. I got away with the 16, but a 22 might be too much. What do you think?

That's wild! Did you have to make that, or can you buy them like that in your state?? That camper is like BigFoot! I suspect that even though your tow vehicle may pull both the "MAN" may have other thoughts.. What do you do when you need to back up?? Or dont you?? I would think you would have to disconnect one of the trailers.:boggled: :boggled: .. I have towed many different things both large & small, but never a tandem..:eek!: Jamie / Lakeside

You can buy them straight from Starcraft. My model is the 13RT and has a slide out side. Here is the link, check out the 36RT, it is pretty sick.

In the last year or so, many of the manufactures have come out with pop-ups on steriods. It has a cd player, inside and outside shower, heater, stove, barbeque, and inside crapper. Got it after my wife was bitten by a rattlesnake in May. It happened at night and our old camper did not have the crapper. Now, while in rattlesnake country, we go to the bathroom at night inside. I guess that is enough on our bathroom while camping routine:) :bonk:

It is a bumper pull set up, no fifth wheel and I do get alot of looks when towing it and the 16C behind it. It is legal in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Colorado. In 10 years, never been pulled over. I am not sure my insurance company would appove.

Backing up is impossible. You have to disconnect the third trailer. If I am going in the backcountry and not sure about spurs I may want to camp on, I will disconnect the third trailer, or off load the 4-wheeler from the front deck of the pop up and check it out. Another beautilful thing about Wyoming is that 4-wheelers are actually street legal and you can get plates for them. I use ramps and my Polaris 700 Sportsman fits nice on the front deck.

I know I can tow the 16, and I can probably get away with the 18, but a 22 might be pushing it. This spring I will make sure to take some pics of the setup, F-350, pop-up and Donzi. Like I said, I also have a 17 ft G3 with a 65 horse jet drive outboard I tow during duck season and while fishing some of the lakes around here. The rear frame was pretty beefy, so I simply bought a reciever hitch, did a little cutting with cutting torches, got out the welder, wired it and there you go.Thanks for the compliment about the setup. Necessity is the mother of all inventions and it is really convienent.

John, thats pretty neat!.. Definitley a bit different from the one my parents had back in the real early 1980's!!

I think that acrctic cat made a street legal atv for use in Europe. It had turn signals & all built in... I dont see why they couldnt be street legal everywhere anymore. As long as they had the proper lights & instrements.. It's not like they cant keep up with traffic anymore! Hell my small one is pretty quick..

Do you guys get out to Yellowstone or anything like that??

My company actually does day tours of both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. I am a Yellowstone tour guide, so I get up there 2-3 times a summer. I am a back up guide as I have 5 full time guides. The last time I was up there for pleasure was about 4 years ago. Did a canoe trip 7 miles in the backcountry on Lewis Lake. We do drive through Yellowstone to get to our destinations sometimes though.

We started with a Jayco 8ft pop up towing it and the raft on the small trailer. We would go to alot of the big classic fly fishing rivers like the South Fork, Henry's Fork, Green, Madison and Big Horn. While we caught plenty of fish, we got tired of the crowds. We started really exploring a lot of the smaller streams, creeks and tributaries that are really over looked. Many of these are a bitch to get to driving and we were tearing up the little ole Jayco. Then the rattlesnake thing. Thats when we bought the Starcraft. We also catch up to 100 fish a day, and in most cases see very few people on rivers like the Fall, Greys, Hoback and Shoshone. Plus the fish can be bigger than in the classics. We also "triple towed" the 16C to our lakes around here in July and August. Here is a pic of Boo Boo's bite about a week after she stepped on the rattler. In one of the pics, she drew a red dot to show where the fang mark that had already healed was. She was bit twice.

Come on out man! I was a flyfishing guide for a few years. I can definetly put you on some nice yellow bellies (Cutthroat trout), bows, browns and brooks. We got em all, some rivers have all four. Plus, the lakes have 50 pound lake trout and they are real good eating. Our Cutthroat get to about 6 pounds, our browns about 35 pounds, our bows over 25 and an occasional brook over 7. I know some of you Great Lakes guys get bigger trout, but we fish for these fish on 4-6 wieght fly rods in a moving raft with current. It can be very challenging. I will probably wonder over to Idaho in March for Steelhead with an average of 35 pounds and we use an 8 weight for those. Hell, if you can ever get my way, bring your Donzi or whatever you are replacing your 22 with (hopefully another Donzi). We have some of the most beautiful lakes in the US. No houses, thick forest, 14,000 ft mountains, bears, great camping and gin clear water. They are around 15 to 30 miles long, plenty of water to get a little (actually a lot) WOT.
The bite was a nightmare. It happened in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. She got up an stepped on it while using the restroom. Went over 100 mph 25 miles to the nearest hospital. She stayed for 24 hours and recieved 16 vails of crofab antivenin. Total bill= $18,000.00. It still burns her sometimes although she has no scars. There is more to the story, such as I had been drinking (hey, camping around a fire in Wyoming, what is better than some Captain?), was pretty blitzed but had no choice to drive. There was no cell service and my wife was in excruciating pain and could possible die(her ankle swelled to the size of a grapefruit on the bite side and turned red, while on the other side, every artery, vain and capillary turned black, it was freaky and gross) so I had to drive. Not something I am proud of, but as I came into town, I got cell service and called 911. All the sudden, I had a cop behind me and one in front of me escorting me to the hospital. They had to know I had been drinking, but never said a word when they helped carry her into the hospital.
This was in central Wyoming in the desert, not around Jackson. We don't have any rattlesnakes here. Where we were was real scrubby and desert and we were fishing the Big Horn River in Thermopolis. Jackson is more like what you think of when you picture the Rockies, thick lodge pole pine and aspen forests, Mountains, rivers, creeks, etc.. We are only about 55 miles from Yellowstone.
If you can't tell, I am sick today, stayed home from work and bored out of my mind. Help! :boggled:
