I have a friend who wants to change the exhaust on his 1986 Donzi Z-21. The boat has not been used much over the last few years because, " The neighbors think its too loud". Therefore he wants to change to a Corsa or a Mercruiser electric switchable exhaust. It is a 350 Mag engine. Has anyone done this and does anyone have a line on the necessary parts ? Thanks

Sounds like a big job requiring an engine pull to install the y-pipe. Then would have to install the diverters, air compressor, and switch. The parts could be found on e-bay and/or places like Rex Marine.
Easier solution may be to use muffler inserts or some Drew Marine Shotguns like these (http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=43725)- shameless plug huh?

I will make the suggestion, but I think he really wants to go with the Quick and Quite btype system. I thought with the electric switchable system, there is no air compressor.

I thought original Z-21's had CORSA side exhaust? Still the Y-pipe issue and stuff, but that is what his had.

EricG had this as well, all factory and also a 350.

possibly he can fit some marine mufflers between the 90 degree elbow and the outlet on the side?

He'd be better off going with some sort of muffler. By the time he puts the switchable exhaust, he'll probably have more money in the boat than it is worth.
