Whatever happened to him? I remember sometime in the early sixties, maybe earlier than that, he was involved in a big "flap" during a Rock and Roll Concert in New York, ..maybe Radio City.. that he was hosting. The band wanted the house lights turned down... and the Police, or someone like that, said NO. So Alan Freed asked the audience if they were going to stand for that, and all hell broke loose.

I can't remember if anyone was killrd or injured or what, but I think it pretty much ended his career. People always talk about "Wolfman Jack" in those early days but Alan Freed (whom I remember) seems to have dropped off the radar. I never heard of "The Wolfman" when I was a kid.

Last night XM Radio (Direct TV) had full length tapes of a Consert hosted by Alan Freed in 1955. I was too young to have a radio then and I think the radios we had then were pretty primitive anyhow. JOHN (R&R History 101)
