first off, i'm new to the registry and i will soon be taking ownership of my dads Donzi, a 1974 22' classic. my first project will be replacing the fuel tank. i have read some of the post about the replacement and i plan on taking the deck off to do it but the posts i've seen were for 16' and 18'. has anyone done a 22' or can help with any info on my year and size. Thanks in advance

I have never seen a 74 22 classic.

I heard somewhere that the first 22 was built in 1978.

I'm with 'Poodle on this one. It might be a GT21.

i only have one pic but need to have it scanned. the boat is still at my dads in FL so detailed pics will have to come later. i wouldn't be surprised to have something nobody has seen. the look of the boat is typical 22' classic but i haven't seen any with the same dashboard. left hand steering, tach and speedo across the dash with a glove box on the far right and ignition, switches, temp and psi gauges on a console in the middle. ski locker is on the right. i'm always looking for information on my toys so whatever info or comments i can get is appreciated.

i did some surfing and i'm convinced its a GT21. i'll get the HIN next time i talk to dad. so now how does it compare to the classic?

GT21.... Got the hull #??
Jamesbond (Nate) here on the board has a thread detailing the disassembly of his.. Worth the look, but be warned: he started 38 years ago, and plans to be finished by the year 2029 come hell or high water....

LOL! That sounds alot like my project!

Is there any way to find a part # for the fuel tank so i can have RDS make one before i take the boat apart?

Is this a yellow boat?? Round that time it would have most likely had a Chris Craft/Volvo 280 powertrain...
The late model 22 tank fits.. Nate used one in his boat.. Do a search here for his threads on his boat, there is a lot of good info there for you...

ok, thats scary. but yes, yellow and white, orange interior, 280 volvo,
SB motor.

i have to ask.. how did you come up with yellow????
