"No reserve", ran "OK", but doesn't ever want to see it again. What's up with that!

Looks like a Testarrosa. Wonder why he is so motivated to get rid of it. No reserve, but kinda scary about what kind of shape the engine is in.

This may be the issue;

"It may need engine work, possible project boat"

Jersey, rarely used, rust on the manifolds, may have fooze.?

But 5 grand.... I would look at it !

Guys,
This is 5 min. up the road. I can look at it if some arranges it. I might know the person also. I grew up in Englishtown.

That is sweet. It's local and I'm interested, but the engine concerns me...I'm not a mechanic by any means.

Is the ad for the '90 online? How much are they asking?

Now 18 bids and over 6K. Many of us know what time and expense could
be put into a "project" boat. How much is it worth? Interesting to watch!

'88, LARGE lift rings, funny grab rail and an apparent (in photos) orange peel on the deck indicating a poor paint job makes me think NOT a Testarossa. Big carpet hiding what? Vents seem older with the screens. Wrong decals (deckills :D ) for the era aren't they ?

Not what it seems if you ask me. ???

I think there's at least a dozen or so.

There was one in Seattle a few years back, an '88, and it rolled up as an "Anniversary Edition" (25 year) and was different. Not called a Testarossa either. Also had a few waterline stripes and other "stuff". Not like this clone of Gregg's 22.

Lenny,

Tough to tell from these pictures, but what you describe as possibly being orange peel, looked to me like water that was not wiped off of a freshly cleaned boat. A "missed spot" if you will.

It looks like an 1980's Donzi dash. The Donzi decal almost looks crooked.

BTW, how can you tell if a Donzi is a Testarossa and not just Donzi painted solid red?

Hello,

1. They all were made in 88
2. They all had that paint color that fades in the sun
3. They all had that VDO gauge package
4. They all had the grey interior with red pipping
5. They all had Italian Winsheilds, (Metal trim)

This one looks like it meets all the criteria except the windshield. Is this a Testarossa? If it is, is it worth anymore than, lets say, as regular 1988 18C? Personally, I think the boat is kinda ugly, wouldn't be my first choice in colors.

If what Brian said is true, its likely not on both questions. Buy it because you like it and enjoy working out the bugs.

MP- Do you think it is a Testarossa?-

Made in 88
Has VDO gauges
Grey interior w/red piping
Solid Red

Wouldn't surpise me if it was ordered without a windshield.

I have the exact boat- just posted photos on photo gallerie. I'd say its a testarossa and the windshield was broken and then removed. If it came from the factory without a windshield I would think the grab rail would go all the way around like the rest of the 18's without a windshield.

I'm pretty sure wraparound grab rails were not the norm in that era on an 18..

I was at the Factory during that time and the boat is a Testarossa! As many of you know, people remove windshieds all the time.

Yes, the Red colordoes fade pretty fast, but I agree with the fella that said it looks like water marks. In my opinion, the boat would be ALLOT ruffer all around if it had sat in the weather that long.

Seems like a good project.

P.S... (the gelcoat is VERY thick on those boats).

Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Factory original or pretty much so for 66oo. I would have taken a chance for that price.

He must really want it gone with a Buy It Now price of $6,500.

Someone (who likes red) should snap this up. If it were white/carolina blue, it would be in my garage :eek!:

Looks like he ended the 1st relisted auction early. Then relisted again, and somebody used Buy It Now for $6500.

I think I saw your ad on here and ebay. Very nice boat! Although I'm not quite ready to buy yet, but I will keep you in mind (if it hasn't sold by that time).
