I, and I think some others, would like to know if and how stringer position has changed on the 22 Classic over the years. Could anyone with acess to a 22C please measure the inside distance between the stringers in front of the engine and post the year and the distance and the original engine size if known. TIA.:alligator

2002, 500EFI/502 w/offshore bracket.
28 1/2" between stringers. Stringers are 2" thick.
30" between the the inner lifting strakes, outside vertical face to outside vertical face.

2002, 500EFI/502 w/offshore bracket.
28 1/2" between stringers. Stringers are 2" thick.
30" between the the inner lifting strakes, outside vertical face to outside vertical face.

So they are completely supported in this case.

Thanks RickSE. We need more measurements and I will post mine as soon as I can (it's not here now). Please, this thread is not intended to discuss any issues but just to gather data. Thanks.

It's raining like a SOB and the 22 is not in one of the covered bays. I'll try again shortly...

I'm 23.5" inside clear on the stringers of my '86 and they are 2" thick.

There's no good way to get the dimension on the strakes because of how it sits on the trailer but I should be able to get that next week when its at the fiberglass shop off the trailer.

I should note that my stringers were replaced last year. The original thickness was closer to Dr. Dans. I'm not sure if the center line of the stringers was changed slightly when they were beefed up. Mine has an LS6 based 454 in it. It had an Alpha drive when I got it so it may have started life as a small block boat.

Doc, you crack me up. You've got one of the baddest 22s around. Thanks all and keep the numbers coming please.

Forward of the engine I have 28" between the inside of the stringers.
The thickness of the stringers is 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches. No signs of
any cracking or stressed gelcoat :crossfing .

I appreciate the measurements. I thought there may have been a correlation between the stringer relocation and the hull failures. This doesn't seem to be the case. I put some thoughts here: http://www.donzi.net/forums/showpost.php?p=394072&postcount=80 which is where this is being discussed. :alligator
