Thanks Jeff, ALLOT more than I wanted to do but isn't that always the case!!

Motor is supposed to be in and ready to roll around mid Nov. Waiting for some pretty trick after market parts.

The Company that is doing the moter is a local HI performance shop.

Who's doing the engine Buddy?

Ray Hankey of FORCE 10 Race team. He has always had the fastest boat on the water around here for as long as I can remember.
He has a 30' twin that has won his heat every year at the races behind the pier in St. Pete.

Hope I'm not paying for his engines too.:bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Ray put the first engine in my Minx. He didn't build it, just installed it. He has also done work on my Formula. I felt sorry for him trying to crawl around in that bilge of the Minx as big as he is.

The boat he had is a Force Ten, which he used to build. The hull is actually the old Cig Mistress mold, then the Baja 36 Outlaw mold. He can dock a boat better than anyone I've ever seen. :)

Went to check on it today. The engine looks great!!!!! They are having to redrill the holes after the all the stringer reinforcement my motormounts as well as refeed the new gas line thru.:( :( :(

Man, its always something!!! I guess I can look it as the boat is 20 years old and at some point this stuff wears out.

Sam, you spoke to soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ran the boat on the hose for a bout 30 minutes yesterday and was just getting ready to put the boat into Lake Tarpon and take my 8 year old daughter for a ride after school.

Guess what... yup, I happened to just take a peak (old habits are hard to break) in the engine room and sure enough... about a third of a quart of oil in a brand new bilge!!!

Damn Buddy, that sucks! Can you tell where it's coming from? Check the oil filter first.

Dammmmmmmmmm  , sorry to hear that. I hope it was fresh oil .

Nope!!!!! Oil is BLACK!!!! That doesn't make a whole lot of sense since the engine has less than 30 minutes running time!!

I know this may be a dumb question but could that possibly be old oil that was hiding in the front of the boat and is draining backwards because of a shift in the way the boat was sitting?

motor looks great by the way

Glashole, my thinking also!! I checked the dip stick and it was gold!! I sure hope that is the problem.

Yep, that's definetly not fresh oil. Probably some that was hiding out under the deck. I know you've had that oil leak problem forever. Probably just getting the excess oil out of the boat will give your 3 mph. :)

I hope it runs good for you Buddy, lord knows you've had your share of problems before.

Thanks everyone!!! Well, I think I agree with the old oil thing. The oil in the engine is brand new so I dumped a gallon of Dawn in the bilge and tilted the boat downward for the night.
Hopefully I can drive it around the roads and with all the stoping and starting I can free up anymore of that (old) engine oil.
