Figured I'd pop these up. Last ride until '07 (unless I fire up the little outboard). Anyway, some pretty fall leaves, a blue sky, wife and kids (and a boat) always make a nice setting for some good pictures.
Anybody know what kind of bird that is on the dock in the one shot. It dove into the water after I took this and disappeared. I'm pretty sure it was a loon. Pics were taken in western Maryland (October 9, 2006).

Whoa! Finally got 'em all up. Looks pretty crowded in the little 16, eh?:eek!:

And, of course, I'm standing on the bow (pretty much - "not in the boat") taking the "whole family" picture!

Changed my mind. I think the bird is a Cormorant.

Fall boating has always been my favorite. I love the colors, the clear air and the lack of "fair weather boaters". The old Cobalt is way cool too. Looks like a good time was had by all. :)

Watch out for low flying cormorants...

Thanks guys! That was only a month ago and I'm missing boating already (all winterized now here in Maryland). Not a good sign...

Nice pics.
My money is on a cormerant. Loons have white on them, and you'll rarely see them on a dock, and you probably wouldn't have gotten that close to a loon.
Nov 8, still haven't winterized the boat.... I'm not giving up yet. :crossfing

That's a comorant. You better hope they don't invade your area, they are everywhere in the St. Lawrence now, and they destroy the fish stock. They are eating machines.
They do tumble pretty good when they come shooting out of a 36 Nortech's tunnel though ..... :D

I love fall boating too! here's one of the last day the X was in the water.

Yep, I think it's a Comerant too. Shouldn't be an invasion problem; there's no fish in that lake!
Just kidding - a lot of folks say it's a hard lake to catch anything in, but they're there.
Man, I'm looking at those pics from just about 4 weeks ago and all the leaves. A little rain and wind about a week ago and now they're all gone. Back to leafless brown and white for 4 or 5 months!
Oh well, I'm close to finishing up my "carport/boatport" where I can fiddle with the "new/old" Dunphy X-55 during the winter. Attached a few pics -- Has fascia and gutter on now. Still have to paint T-111, etc. but at least the roof is on for winter! That's the ole' Dunphy under the cover.

How long do you leave you boat in the water at Lake George? Your season is alot longer than Sacandaga. I'm thinking about switching next year. Any leads on dock space?

I usually pull the boats out in mid-October, more because of time than anything else. I'll ask around about docks; I know some are pretty pricey.
