Seems to be in good shape, has the Cobra SX drive, price seems reasonable.

Definetly needs a power upgrade if it only will push a tick over 50. I like the boats, would rather have a Donzi, but the interiors of the U's are nice.

Hi there, for what it's worth, I have one of these "Fonzi" 17's with the exact same engine. I have the OMC Viper 14.25 x 23 prop and I have seen 61/62 mph gps on mine trimmed out, dancing pretty good mind you with 2 160 lb guys in it.

It's the Ford 302 block, perhaps this particular one is a little tired - who knows. It has great acceleration with the 220 hp on such a small boat. It's not a Donzi, but it ain't bad either.

Hi Atlanta Donzi, there was one of the boating magazines that "tested" one with some unfavourable results from their perspective. If you are really interested, you can do a search on this board for U17 and you will find some additional data about these boats and the test ride in question. As always, there are many sides to every story.

From my short experience with mine, there is certainly enough power available if one were to engage in some not so smart activities you could find yourself in trouble. However, once you get into the 200 plus range of horsepower in any 16-18 foot boat, I'll suggest that sets the stage for potential trouble if not handled appropriately.
