I brought my son to the Lake of The Ozarks this weekend for some boating, the forecast is for 71 degrees and beautiful weather. It must be in the cards, I mean the Cardinals! LOL
Sorry Tiger fans.
We plan on running around 90 miles on the lake today and I was curious as to who besides the California and Florida crowds might still be burning some petrol and admiring the fall colors.

Jim, lets take some pictures for all of those that unfortuately have their boats hanging from the lift eyes this time of year.
I have 2' of fresh snow waiting for me in Colorado when we fly home.

Had a cold front go thru last night. It's now 64 degrees :) . I'll be out if the wind quits blowing so hard.
Cheers,

Last weekend, Donzigo & Donzigo Jr. and first mates, cruised from St. Pete/Gulfport, to the Tampa Channelside Marriott, to watch Tampa edge out Philly on Sunday. There's a very nice bar situation to eat, drink, & watch large T.V.s We had 8 people and it was 2 for 1 day, with really nice free Bucs glasses. David took home 24 glasses. "I think you wiped us out", the waitress said, smiling.
When we left, there was a large cruise ship in the channel. An enforcement boat came up fast, to tell us we had to stay 1/4 mile away. It was taking so long for the ship to get into the bay, he came back and said: "Fire those bad boys up, stay between me and the shore, and go as fast as possible! Now, let's go.". It was kinda neat to get an escort, while flying by the ship, WFO, while all the tourists waved.
We are fortunate, in Florida, that boating is 12 months long.

we used to do the fall color rides in our 16 until a few years ago when I pushed the envelop a little too far…..I ran the boat father down river than I planned on a day which the weather was marginal at best... IE a early November day, a little overcast and cool turned into a very cold rain….ended up running almost 2 hours in the dark and cold with my wife lying in the floor saying horrible nasty things to me…

Did my final run last Sunday. Sunny and a blistering 55Deg. :)
Engine sure likes that cool air! Ran it hard and fast for a couple hours straight. Put 52hrs on it, my 1st season with the 22C. Took a least 40hrs to get comfortable with it. You guys aren't kidding when you say it's a drivers boat.

A couple pics. Normally this area is full of boats and like a washing machine. It was nice to have it mostly to myself. The pic of the city is North Vancouver, which is just across the bridge from the City of Vancouver.

I'm not giving up yet! here in NH we had lots of wind and rain today .40 degrees . with 50 mph wind gusts . . . leaves are gone, and I still have 30 gallons of 10% ethanol to burn up . . . I found ethanol free 2 counties to the north . . . just to simplify winter storage concerns. any excuse to leave work on a good day!

LOL, so I'm out in the backyard today, and remembered this thread, started chuckling.. Heidi was curious what was so funny, I told her I was laughing at the irony of this thread, and our day today. We were peacefully planting flowers, mulching the planters, trimming some vines..
Wearing sunscreen :) :)
I did however rejuvenate the firepit.. It's got to get cold enough for smores at least once this winter I hope :eek!: :eek!:

Yeh, yeh.....rub it in....

Hoping for one or two more good days, have the sea side drained and a Golden Rod in the bilge. May have to give it up weather is just not giving us a break.
On an added note! No grass cutting, mulching, weeding, lower fuel bills and last but not least less eye candy until spring:pimp:

Freezing temps scare the crap out of me..
We are winterized, as it got into the high 20's a week or so ago.
I am scared to take chances..
What is the bottom line temp-wise that you all will chance before winterizing? I know being indoors helps some.
Coldwater, where in L.Michigan are you running?

Drove through 6 inches of snow yesterday and went home to rake leaves. Do you guys in Florida have to rake leaves? It sucks.

65 degrees...

Very Funny.....

So Salt Water freezes at 65 degrees, causing you to winterize?

I am convinced it's lots colder down there per any given temp. than up here.I've needed winter coats on Sarassota Bay before, and it was low 50's with a North wind.
Must be the humidity, or something.

Here in North Florda (isn't that some sort of oxymoron?) We do get color change and dropping leaves that need to be raked. But that happens in late October and early November, here. Some of my trees don't drop leaves until Christmas. One of my trees drops them in January but is already busy replacing them with the new crop for the new year so it is never leafless.
Palms and pines shed but are never totally leafless at any time.
Oaks keep their leaves year round, here.
I boat all year round. I do not need to winterize, although it can get below freezing for a few hours some nights in January and February. However, even on those days temps run right back up into the 50's even then. I use a 100 watt light bulb on a work lamp in the engine compartment on those nights, then flip it off in the morning. That is enough heat to keep the engine coolant from freezing. Since the St. Johns River is very slightly brakish, I do not flush in the winter after boating since the river water will have a much lower freezing point than the fresh water from the hose. That small amount of salt in the water has a nominal corrosion effect which flushes out the very next time I go boating and heat things up.
The SEADOGS have their next scheduled boating event on November 17-19 right here near Jacksonville. Annual Fall event.
After that, our next two scheduled events are New Years Eve (to celebrate the official ending of the boating season), and then on New Years Day (to celebrate the official beginning of boating season).

Hauled out yesterday. 36 degrees, frost on the decks and no windshield, made for one cold ride to the ramp. You should never boat where the temperature drops below your numeric age.

Had to dispose of trees I had cut today.

I will probably go out all 12 months this year again.
