Weekend of October 27-29, Blue Angels do their annual airshow at NAS JAX, on the shores of the St. Johns River. Starts at 9:00AM with the first demonstration and finishes up around 3:30 with FAT ALBERT and the Blue Angels. NAS JAX will be open all weekend. There will be 70 aircraft on display and many entertainments for the family. Lots of food and refreshemnts (Navy base, so YES there is beer!)
I will spend all day Saturday on dry land escorting my two nephews around and watching the show from the field. Sunday offers a different perspective from the water. Ever have an F/A18D fly 70 feet right over your boat at over 600 MPH? I have. Incredible. And the aerobatic routines can often be better enjoyed from a slight floating distance.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Marine Patrol, Navy SEALS, Jacksonville Sheriffs' Marine Patrol, et al, will have picket boats to keep floaters from getting too close to land. No problem. Noise restrictions? None. Speed limits? None. Manatee Zones? Gone South for the winter.
It's always a three day event. I will see you there on Saturday AND Sunday.

Yes! It's great to have the air show back at NAS Jax. I work there. In fact I have personally worked on the Blue Angel aircraft many times. We are the ones to do the conversions and install the smoke system which is really nothing more than installing a big oil drum with a tube leading to the engine exhaust. BTW these Blue Angels can be converted back to fighter status pdq if need be. :fire:
