Pics of how I made the boat. It is a replica of a 1934 Gar Wood. All wood parts are cut out with my CNC router.

awsome, only thing i will ask is a rotary, why a rotary.. i have always had a hell of a time keeping a rotary running properly, granted most of the ones i have encountered where all turboed... and they ate apex seals.... awsome boat though!

Low weight. Less than 400 lbs. including transmission and FWC. Apex seal problems are now a thing of the past. These are now 2000 hr marine engines.

Has a 1.5:1 ZF reduction gear (cruise is 4000-5000 rpm). This gear increases torque at shaft by 50% and reduces shaft speed to about 4500 rpm at WOT.

thats awsome, the wankle engine design is so simplistic... beautiful boat!

From one boat builder to another, Fantastic work. How many coats of varish are on the sides of the hull? It looks like glass!

What made you decide to go with the rotary, weight to hp, curiosity? It looks like the boat runs very nicely.

You must be very pleased.

I always thought the rotart engine would be a good idea.. The torque @ low end seemed a bit low in the past to make it worth while.. It seems that they have been working on that.. You can rev those things till the cows come home!.. Nice Speedster.. :) Jamie..

very nice!!

So why are blown apex seals a thing of the past? Are they the same as rotor seals? I abandoned rotary engines because of their delicate rotor seals.

When you say rotor seals, you are referring to the apex seals. There are several seals on each rotor, the 3 apex seals for combustion sealing and several oil seals on the sides of the rotor.

In short, the apex seals now use better, different materials, different designs, and the plating of the housings that they run on has been improved.

The marine blocks are also heavy duty designed to be turbo or supercharged. I have two of the supercharged ones for my next project(s).
