Hi group, can anyone tell me what the stock Mercruiser 502 MPI mag of 1998 was for HP, and what kind of speed I can expect for this set up? What is the mileage like? Anything bad about the motor, or hull?

Any info at all on the engine and the boat, good or bad, is welcome.

Thanks for your time.

415 HP at the prop.
Should run in the low 70s with a 25 inch 3 blade Mirage Plus or Turbo I
Its all good - no problems to worry about -

Great setup. Gen VI roller cam with the cool fuel system. See my #s below.

Pismo: How did your boat handle with the 27" Mirage plus?

And to add something to the thread, I am a big fan on the 502 MPI. Likes mods better than the 496. It has forged internals. Can easily be modified to make 500 hp and retain stock look. It also accepts blowers nicely. Very reliable.

It handled better with the 25". It never realy settled in with the 27" it was always a fight to keep it stable. It settled in nicely with the 25". I have a new steering problem now tho so have not tried lately.
