I might be buying an engine that doesn't have a power steering pump on it. Since I will probably be going full hydraulic steering, is the power steering pump necesarry?

Yes, you will still need one if you do a Latham, WPM , Marine Machine....or anything like that.

If you cobble together some type of outboard system...you will not.

But that is NOT designed for what you NEED!

Cuda, w/o it, it's hard to turn right.

The other option is a Teleflex PA (power assist) unit. I have on on my corsican and love it. Otherwise the power steering pump is what I do don't go manual. If at all possible do dual rams. I would explane why but my fringers would get tired.

I will start to hunt on a ps pump then. Are they pretty much all the same on Merc engines?
