Time to step up. This 18 is in great condition all the way around, to many new parts to describe (email for info). I know the complete history of this boat, its been well taken care of. Comes with trailer, that is in average condition, but never let me down. $16,000

I will take more this weekend. GM 350/300 Volvo 280T repowered in 2000, drive completely rebuilt in 2004, all new trim pump/rams/plumbing/prop. New Manifolds and risers in 2006. New power steering system in 2006. New carpet, interior is great. Hull has no damage (some small scratches) repainted in 2000, finsih is great.

Very clean looking 18! What color is the stripe? Also wondering what year they stopped left hand steering?

Nice boat, good luck!

The boat was originally a tender on a Bertram, the stripe is an actual Awlgrip colar, "Bertram blue and gold", a very dark blue, stripe an chine. When I repainted it, I had it painted as it was for Bertram.Don't know about the year for a port helm, do a serch.

Can anyone chime in about the port helm? Was this an option in those years or something for export? Just curious about it, although I think that's the side they ALL should be on! :)

Great looking boat with colors I really like, very clean. Good luck, it should go pretty quick I would think! :crossfing

I serched it and came up with tons of info, this has been talked about many times seems a date is roughly mid eighties, and related to Volvo drives. That would make this boat one of the last with the option.

Here are some new pictures.

Are you sure it is a 1985??

Volvo 280T....morse shifter......?

I did not think those were even available in 1985.....

Ted, I beliieve that is a 290 out back on that boat.

The transom assembly screams that. As does the upper on the "280" ...

Doesn't it ?

The last number on the HIN is 85..what is the issue?

No issue here, just never seen a 1985 with a Volvo drive and a morse shifter. Happy selling :)

OK, price drop, $14,500, this boat is really clean, and runs great!

If you want the boat, but not the drive, I may be interested in buying the drive, if it is a 290 and comes with the trim pump.

The boat is a 100% working unit, it doesn't move without the drive.

Why is there no interest in this boat? the boat is close to perfect, what am I doing wrong?

Surfer, I don't believe you are doing anything wrong.
Just some thoughts to consider.
1. There have been "a lot" of very nice 18s available lately, many for less than what you are asking (i.e. a 1995 white/yellow 18 that recently sold in Michigan for $1,000 less).
2. Because of what a Classic Donzi is, it will have a smaller group of potential buyers than more generic mainstream bowrider type boats.
3. Over the past year, there has been a significant softening of boat sales.
4. We all have a value that we believe our boats should be worth. However, ultimately something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay you for it. You can be patient and wait for someone to agree with you on the boat's worth, or if you need to sell it, you can "agree" with what value someone else has placed on the boat.
From the pictures, it looks like you have a great boat. Have faith. :)

N2O, thanks for the words of wisdom, I'm trying to avoid ebay, and would like to see the boat go to someone who understands what it is.

In regards to what N2O was saying, it is also a 20 year old boat with many newer classics going for the same price. Also, does it have thru hull? Many of the newer models on the market have options this boat does not, such as captians choice exhuast, trim tabs, cd player, etc... Don't get discouraged as the fall is not the best time to sell. Wait till spring when everyone has the fever if you can. Nice color and the left steering with morse shifter is rare in 1985. Never seen one.

Also, does it have thru hull?

Yup, see this pic: http://www.donzi.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=24178&d=1159274194

Surfer, I love your boat! And port steering makes it even sweeter. Sorry to say it's out of my price bracket though. :(

Like I said, nice boat. I am currently looking to bump up to a 18 from my 16. Currently watching this one-

10 years newer and will probably go for 14,000.00-15,000.00.

Been looking at it for about 4-5 days. Love the color. Looks clean and seems pretty loaded. My wife is scared of our 16 going over 60. She said she would love an 18C. There are a lot out there right now, but many have windshields, which I don't really care for. Also, seems that every yellow 18C made is for sale. Not just e-bay, but boattrader, boats.com, yachtworld, etc... Not a huge fam of yellow.

I would be interested in the boat on this thread though. Surfer, make me an offer I can't refuse if you are still interested.

Has the boat been used in fresh or salt water?
Is it fresh water (closed loop) or raw water cooled?
What's it rated to carry? People & weight
What other engines were offered in this model if you happen to know?
Thanks,
Jimmy
