When out Friday the trim on the 300 evinrude v8 stopped working.

The trim switch is in the handle of the gaffrig control. When I work the switch I can hear 2 small boxes on the side of the powerhead clicking. I am assuming they are the relays/solenoids. I hear them clicking but trim pump no workie. Anyone have any ideas on how to trouble shoot this?

It is most likely the solenoids, they usually go bad first. Jump them to see.

If it will not do anything in either direction it is usualy the motor, rare that both solinoids go at the same time.
Follow the wires from the pumps motor up into the cowl you will find a disconnect plug, put power to the pins to see if it will turn.

I just replaced the brushes in my trim motor. (1974 Mercury 1500) They were gone! Only the springs were left. It would click but no movement. After the repair all good.

Well it was the trimp pump motor. It will be replaced this evening so I can be one of the idiots on the water Labor day weekend.:biggrin.:

Ya know, it seems every time Jefe gets near that boat it breaks... Maybe that's a subtle hint from a higher authority? :eek!: :eek!:
