I'm thinking of  upgradeing my 454 350hp to something between around 500hp has anyone gone this route ,was it worth the investment , what would be a typical speed you would see with a 500hp engine , is the boat overpower and unsafe at these speeds. :boat: Thanks for any input that can be offered . No, not too much power. I'd guess that 500 HP would get you around 78, maybe 80 on a good day. Do it.

-------Zinger,,,,Think more in terms of torque as thats what really pushes your boat. Horsepower tends to lead one astray with big camshafts high compression and such, but if you build a motor for maximum torque you will like the outcome better. Oh,,the horsepower will follow along just fine............Bill S
