what is the recommended max horsepower to put through a blackhawk drive pushing 31" props :bonk:

Some previous posts have ranged from 500 hp to 600 hp if handled and driven properly. The weight of the boat has some bearing on the load capability, so you might make a case that the drive is good for a wider range in hp.
I know of one boat that was running 900 hp thru a Blackhawk. He had MAX Machine Works work over the drive in order to get it to live.

Since a lot of the design and components are similiar to or the same as the Bravo 1 and Bravo 3 drives, you can bet that the drive was probably engineered to handle close to the same design requirements, so I would say the drive is safely matched for 435 to 525 hp in a single engine 4,000 pound boat.
