Can anyone suggest a good vendor in South Florida to purchase a replacement GM engine at a fair price? This is to repower an 85 Classic 22

I just bought a remanufactured 454 longblock for my 86 22 Classic from Jasper Engines. I did a lot of research and found them to be the most reasonably priced but still from a respectable organization. I paid about $2800 not including the core charge. Haven't finished assembling it yet, so I can't tell you if its any good though. Beware though, depending on how much good stuff you have left over from your old engine, you could get clobbered with the ancillary replacement parts, manifolds, accessories, gaskets, belts, etc. It could cost more than the block itself, and don't forget the labor costs. In that case, you might be better off finding a complete "drop in" motor.

I have also had good luck with a new MichiganMotorz.com Vortec small block. About 100 hours without a problem.
