Hey, I'd like to come down and at least see the boats before leaving on the run Sat. morning. I have to be home Sat. night for work on Sun, so I won't be able to do the run with anyone, but what a photo opportunity for one of the neatest Aronow company boats built. Anyone else not doing the complete run and staying in the Cinci area of the river?

It gives e-mail addresses to contact admins, but is there a website or place to get a schedule from? Just curious. Hummm 2.5 to Cinci from Columbus means in order to see the boats before they leave I need leave around 5am...hummm a easy trip in my book.

I'm talking with Mike on the schedule. I'll post it when it's avalable. I'm thinking about having the Donzi's meet at 10 or 11am at Schmidt Field in Cincinnati, Sat. Oct. 7th. We will meet the 20' Cig. group for some fun on the river.
They have a great lineup of Steamboats this year, check out their web site www.tallstacks.com

Todd,
It looks like about 75 miles one way by river if you use the map scale and measure the length of the river: see attached map.

Hummm....I'm off work Wednesday thru Saturday. Anyone in Cincy got a spare room or sofa I could rent? Haven't been down for a while, but always love being around a waterfront. Maybe I can get to know this fine city South of me a little better? Thinking about coming down Friday or Thursday evening?

Jerry Eisele
08-15-2006, 08:31 PM
Todd, Most will be going to the Casino. I was thinking about staying there, for an hour or so then heading back before dark. If it looks like it will be cutting it to close, I'll head back from Aurora. We have lots of options. Thats a great time of the year, on the river.

ITTLFLI

The destination by boat on sat is Smugglers Cove. It is a full service marina that has recently been remodeled and has great docks, a nice restraunt, and owners that are looking forward to us being there. A bus will be transporting the group to the casino(couple miles).

The casino is just the place to stay and if your into gambling a place to hang all night.

I need to be back in cincy sat night, so I am planning on running back from smugglers cove. My goal would be to be back right at dusk.

The cig guys are making this a poker run and would like for us to participate. It is $40 a hand. If we all commit to going to smugglers cove they will finalize the poker run results at the marina before we leave. If not they are going to do it at the casino.

Follow 71 south
exit Gilbert ave(think #2, i will check)
Right on East court
Left on reedy
left on Eggleston(this will dead end)
left on eastern ave(the sign could say pete rose way, the road changes names at that light)
Eastern follows the river heading east. You will be on eastern for a couple of miles. you will pass a Site gas station on the right. You will turn right into schmidt but the signs will be on the left. If you get to a United Dairy Farmers gas station on your left you have gone to far!

Call my cell if you get lost! 513-470-8480

Also, just wanted to remind people that this is a cruise not a race. I have been asked to relay this to everyone from the event organizer.

Thanks!

Just getting home today around noon. 75 miles up a river and then 450 miles tow was it for me last nt. We finished off the trip this morning. 670 miles door to door.............definitely worth it:wink:

Saw some great fast boats and well as some fine people.....Smoothie, Jerry, Sam, Bob Douley just to name a few. Also, thanks to Mike Baldwin for putting it together.

First time river running.........learned how to handle passing a barge and dealing with those rollers that were at least a mile long after the barge past. Didn't hit any floaters and after running 5500 rpm for most of the run.......the old boat held up real well.

I'll try and get some pics up later on.
