Got my new Stiletto 17 pitch today. It ran the exact same as the Vengence 19 pitch. 4000 rpm, 50 on the speedo 46.3 on the GPS. Anyone have ANY idea why I did not pick up 300-400 RPM's? I am thoroughly confused.

is the vengance new or has it been to the prop shop ? are the diameters the same on both props ?

Diameter is 14 1/2 on the Vengence and 14 1/4 on the stilleto. I will call the previous owner about whether the prop was ever sent to a shop. I am depressed about the performance of the boat. I was really hoping to pick up 400 rpm and possibly 3-5 mph on the top end. I have the slowest 16 classic out there.

Going to try a 15 pitch Stiletto, Also, I am thinking about replacing my Corsa Muffler tips with non-muffled Livorsi tips. Any input of this styl of tip?

The only lake lower than 5000 ft is 3 1/2 hours away. I talked with Michigan Motorz about how to boost some hp out of my mild 5.7L. They said that my engine does not have the Gen+(Vortec heads) and that a head replacement, with a new manifold and 4 bbl carb vs the 2bbl set up I have would give me between 50-60 hp. I am thinking of trying it instead of going to a new engine. Eventually, I am probably going EFI do to the fact that I run between 5000 and 7000ft. At least that will take out rejetting the carb all the time. It is just very frustrating getting this thing running right. High altitude is a pain in the ass. Thanks for the support.

Just go off the phone with Michigan Motorz again. They are telling me that a set of Vortec heads, new manifold, and 600cfm carb would put me over 290 in hp, up from the current 210hp. Does this sound about right?

Just ran my boat with the 19 pitch and GPS to make sure I wasn't crazy.

17 Pitch Stilleto- 46.3 MPH at 4000 rpm
19 pitch Vengence- 48.7 MPH at 4100 rpm

I am stumped.

try pumping oxygen in the bilage,,im telling ya it works.....just to give you a idea if theirs somthing wrong with your engine or its just the carb jetting...

Is there a possibility it could ignite under the cowling? BOOM!

Its never happened to me,,,try taking the hatch off first to get more air to the carb..I bet you pick up more rpm and mph...

DW, your dealing with a 2 barrel engine to start with......

there's NOT a lot of air getting in that air pump to begin with, at your elevation....

lotsa air is good...

PS - you have got to know my crazy bro that lives in Jhole, he has a turbo snowbird that I am damm SURE is well past the 200hp mark, I know he's said it runs about 140, on GPS, down the airport runway..... if you see an older Bronco with a turbo BB Chevy INSIDE the rear passenger area, throwing snow through the truck roof, and over roofs about 400 feet away....... that's him, he is definately, certifiably, crazy.... he also has an experimental kit plane, but that's another story (he's real good friends with Harrison Ford)

What color is the Bronco? I have seen two pretty sick ones. One is black and the other is red.

I am not sure I want to blow pure oxygen into my engine. Just not sure that would really tel me much performance wise. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I got some advice from Rootsy. I am trying to decide whether to just go with a manifld and crab, or manifold, carb and vortec heads, or manifold, carb, heads and cam. It starts adding up pretty fast. It sounds like I can get my horsepower goals without replacing my engine, but when you do all of it, it is like 2,100.00. It might just be easier to build a base engine already set up with a cam and heads, then add manifold and carb.

It was probably the Black on I saw.

I have been asked by a few people on the boards about boating in Jackson, WY. I placed some info and pics in this thread if anyone is interested-

Not sure if this will connect, but it is in gatherings under Jackson, WY. Hope some of you will come visit us in the Rockies one day.
