I am looking to buy a Classic 18 and am considering a 1998 5.7 liter Bravo boat. It has an Edelbrock carb & intake fitted. I am told this was installed as an upgrade to the original 2 barrel. This surprises me as I expected MPI in this vintage. If they were available carburated, then surely a Bravo would be built with a 4 barrel? Are "build sheets" available so I can know for sure? Thanks for any comments.

I believe that the only Mercury "factory" package that included a Bravo One was the MAG 350 MPI. I don't believe any other engine models would have come with a Bravo. I could be wrong though.

Sounds like something has been changed from original. Is it possible that the fuel injection was removed and replaced with a carb (god only knows why someone would do this)?

the drive is an option . i am sure that it was available . there are an awful lot of 5.7 2bbl. set up for a bravo . the factory will put together just about anything you want , for a fee ...
