I got roped into going to a wedding next month in Orland Park outside Chicago. We will have a couple of days free time and looking for something to do. We will have a car, so can be pretty mobile. I'm an architect, and with Chicago being the home of American architecture, I might consider one the tours. However, I am not big on doing the organized tour thing. Someone suggested one of the city boat tours...?? For nightime, I'd like to find a good blues bar and drinks with fellow board member.

Any suggestions.....???

You can download loop audio tours from http://www.chicagoloopalliance.com/

People volunteer their own time to give tours of certain areas to very small groups. http://www.chicagogreeter.com/

I was in Chicago for an engineering convention in January and stayed in Chinatown for a change of pace. If you like Malaysian or sushi try Penang at the corner of 22nd and Wentworth. For Chinese I liked the walk ups on Wentworth.

The best dead cow I had in town was at the Chop House (ribeye in this case). Try the smoked salmon or raw little necks as an ap.
