It came out of the blue the other day....
I took delivery of my St Tropez in May of 1986 ... it was 20 years old then.
It celebrated it's 40th this year !
Someone around here has as their byline 'owners of Donzis since 1966'
That's good too , but how many have owned the same boat for how many years ..
I have a tendency to hold onto things for a rather long time, but it would be interesting to know if anyone here has had the same boat for more than 20 years.

I hope that is not bragging George - I must be half your age yet married for longer

MC - going on 3 years for the 22; about 3 years for the 18 that came first

It is bragging! If anyone had tried as hard as I did the first two times, and failed, this time is pretty successful and I'm happy about it.

I tend to hang onto stuff too, guess I watched my sperm-donor buying and selling too much growing up and it would upset me and piss me off at the same time:mad: (we had a lot of cool stuff)

my 13' whaler since it was new in '80 (26 years), Blackwidow since '02 (4 yrs), Wife for 12 years (I travel a lot and checks are direct deposited:) )

…purchased 16 new in 7-95. Original plan was to keep the boat ‘forever’ because it was small and could easily be towed to several lakes in the area….however since we only use it 2-3 times a year we may have to rethink that.

Seems like when you have a 'fleet' of your own it's always something like the little 'work boat' that you have for the longest...

That's not bad ... 21 years... Do you intend to have it forever like I plan with mine ?
I admit , looking back , the St T was'nt that expensive when I got it although it had to be shipped over from Florida and 33% taxes etc it did need a really good year and a half resto.
Problem is with holding onto things is that you end up spending so damn much on them keeping them looking good.
I'm nowhere even near the end of the (so far) 4.5 year restoration and I've spent many times over what it originally cost to get it here.
Anyone out there that can top 21 years for the same boat ? (oops ... Donzi )
George , I can appreciate the significance of your 'achievement' .. although . don't we have a member north of the border with a similar track record :biggrin.:

I've only had the 18 for 2 years, had the Z21 for 4 before that...so not a lot of longevity here so far.

But, it's July - which means my 18 is celebrating it's 30th Birthday this month. As according to the HIN it was built in July of 1976:yes:

I don't think anyone will be Grizzley and his 16 since '66 - but I believe Forest has had the little green 16 since it was new in the early 70's too...?

'06 Donzi 22ZX - 3 months, today. 4 new Donzi's total since 1999.

16 Porsches since 1972.

1 wife - 1967 to present. She is a keeper. Very understanding of my Porsche Fever and boat fever. She tolerated 20 years of sailboat racing and the high cost of racing sailboat ownership during all those years, and all those Porsches (and Porsche racing), as well. She has been very tolerant on my Donzi Fever. She allows Eye Candy to ride with me because she has no fear of Eye Candy as an interloper. Nancy is very comforatble with staying home in her beautiful house and reading from her extensive library. No gas-into-noise for her. We both make up for the those differences in interests in so many other ways. We "travel well" together. Cars and boats come and go, but Nancy, and the house we built together in 1975, have been constant and ever-green.

.== 4 new Donzi's total since 1999.===
That has to be some kind of record in itself.... like the guy with EIGHT
Is it hard for you to fathom someone having the same one for 20 + years ?:bonk:

So many Donzi's, so little time.
So many Porsche's, so little time.
I'm rarely satisfied with my toys for long. There is always something else out there I want to try...for a while. But then cars and boats are just stuff. I really like stuff. I just don't need to keep stuff forever. Lots of stuff out there. To it's credit, my 2001 Classic 18 with the MX6.2MPI and Bravo1 lived here for 6 years. I did not own any Porsche even half that long. The only other boat to last longer in my ownership was my '86 Hunter 23S. And that lasted until 1993.
