2001 Alpha 1 drive on 350 mag zx

I was interested to know if anyone has experience with this drive/motor combo .I looked at one that has held together well since 2001 but I hav heard the 350 mag's have too much horsepower for this drive . Any thoughts on how to deal with this combo ?

The Alpha is not near as bad as many make it out to be, just look around any boat yard you will see tons of much larger boats with old Alphas still holding up. They don't like a lot of hole shots or real high RPM's, keep them adjusted right and shift them quick with no grinding. We have several members with big block 22's with Alphas that are doing just fine, anothe plus is they are a couple of miles an hour faster then a Bravo with matching setups.
