I have a 89 Z22 with a 460 and within the last few weeks the boat has been acting up....at idle it has a miss and has a hard time keeping an idle when the drive is engaged(warm or cold) I just changed out the plugs thinking it was maybe a fouled plug(s), but they all looked good and nothing has changed when I installed the new plugs.... as soon as I come off idle, the motor starts to sing again all 8 cylinders, I plan on changing the cap, rotor and wires next.....Any ideas?
Thanks
Tim

I'd first look for a vacuum leak. Could also be debris in the carbs idle circuit. An ignition problem will usually worsen under load.

the boat doesn't really want to run at all...its worse when in gear, but apparant in neutral as well(just at idle)...after a high speed run, it seems to run better, however it seems to load up and run roughly....I have to feather the throttle to keep it running while loading, unloading from the trailer.
When I pulled the plugs yesterday, they all looked to be in good shape with none really black and oily????
really stumped

thought I'd mention as well...there a hesitation when throttling up, just off idle, then it catches and pulls fine

Does anyone have the correct P/n for the cap and rotor....I'm having a hell of a time finding the right part
Thanks
