Looking to buy a true off-shore boat. Looked at a 35 ZR in St. Pete, Florida. Boat was a 2007 model. Downside was it only had 496 HO's (dealer said it would do 83mph). Really want at least 525's. Upside was the price, he offered us a price of $189,000 trailer included and he would deliver to our house in Punta Gorda for free. Boat was extremely sharp and nice but were very dissapointed in the small size of the cockpit for a 35 footer.

Also found a 30' Cigarette Vice online with 525's. Claims its the only 30' vice in the US with 525's and will run mid 90's. To spec out a 35zr with 525's would probably cost a lot more but dont like the look or power of 496's. And I have always wanted a Cigarette.

The 30" Vice is a wayyyyyyyyyy overpriced imo.
This boat was at the Lake Hartwell poker run a couple months ago..... sweet boat for sure, but way over 200K for a 30' boat....um...no way. It had 525's btw....

I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a boat if it isn't really what you want. Especially in the power dept. Contact Shanghied Again or Sellsman 11, both are Donzi dealers. You can find 'em in the members list. You can't do wrong with a cig but I think it will cost you more. JM2 cents.

that is a picture of the exact Cigarette Im looking at!! How did it run at high speeds in rough water?

The dealer also had a new 2004 33ZX with 496 HO's and said it would only do 71mph, and 80mph with 525's. Looking for atleast 90 MPH. Also like the look of the ZR's a little better than the ZX's. The ZX did seem to have a lot more cock pit and cabin room despite being 2ft shorter.

I was at a Poker Run this past weekend and got a refresher look at this boat.

There is no room, and I mean NO ROOM in the cockpit of this boat. As a backseat passenger, you had better trust your captain, because I doubt you could even stand up behind the front bolsters without bruising your knees.

Road Trip: Thats why on the 35ZR I always put the drop down bolster seats in the back for comfort espeilly on the 525 Package. Cost a little more but your passengers like standing in the rear when running a Poker Run depending on what you get a 525 boat can cost $40k more and the more opions you get the more she climbs.

Trip, I've got a pic of that boat somewhere, he was tied up across from us in Kingston.
He was running a pair of 377 Scorps.

Richard the 35zr, and the 33zx are entirely different animals, sort of like the difference between the M roadster, and the M5 coupe.

not comparing the boats at all, just how much room the cockpit has so I have somthing to base it on before I were to go from Indiana to South Carolina to look at a boat that may not even be what Im lookin for....

I think you should look at a 38 ZR w/525s which you can get a really nice one for under $300,000. Maybe a stripped down one quite a bit cheaper.:boat:

I would love a 38 ZR but I was under the impression that it could only be made with 3 bolster style seats in the rear. I would much prefer a full bench in order to be able to take more people on the boat

Actually that 38 that Boxy is showing will be up for sale soon, he is trading it in on a new 38 with Merc 700s with NXT Drives: You could get in to a 38 ZR with less then 100 hours for $229,000 with ITS XR Sportmaster Drives, Big Tabs, 525 Staggered, Conveince Package, electric front bolster seats, GPS In dash, AM/FM CD Radio, Tempest Graphics,

Indy she is a Saltwater boat but understand that she has 525s Fresh Water engines and Sea Strainers that are flushed, she has about 75 hours on her and runs 88-90 mph with ITS Boxes on the back.

Just some outside the box thinking, I've had boats from 10' to 42' and generally speaking. the "fun" you get out of a boat is inversly proportional to the size of the boat. A 30' boat is a lot easier to handle, park, tow, etc. than a 35+' boat. However, some think length matters! Ed

What all is included in the "convenience package?" I noticed it does not have a vacu-flush head which is one main feature we want/need

Convenience PKG should be, Shore Power, Battery Charger & A/C Panel.

Any update on a Donzi purchase? I think I may have looked at the same 35ZR in ST pete you did. Still there and about the same price. I currently own a Baja 29OL and really love the looks of the 35ZR. Like mentioned in earilier posts. The cockpit and cabin seems very tight for a 35. I would have to say the same cockpit space as my 29OL and my cabin seems bigger except I dont have a head and counter. but my height is taller, seats and berth seem bigger. I guess just that type of boat...Low deck style.
Outlaw is more comparable to the ZX series. Still love the dash on the ZR series.

Dennis,

We ended up purchasing a Formula 382 Fastek. It was a difficult decision. Our two top choices were Formula and Baja. The decision was solely based on the make-up of the stringer system. The Donzi’s sure do have a nice look and ride, but we have had a lot of trouble with our Blackhawk and felt that it was time to make a change.

Good luck with you decision.
