We were rolling down the river when we saw 3 policemen on the tracks next to the Hudson. As we passed about 2 miles down river my wife saw a person in the water that was having trouble. We went over to ask this man who was bobbing up and down if he was OK? He didn't respond and we threw him a PFD, he missed it and we threw him another and he got it and stabilized himself. He was really going up and down and I don't think he could have lasted much longer.
We got him over to the rocks were he proceeded to just stand there, The police tried to help him but he did not respond and just stood there. The police eventually had to grab him and he seemed to go for their gun.
All ended well with him in cuffs going to the hospital.
We were interviewed for the local news but their report was even stranger, seems they say he was hit by a car and ended up in the river just north of our town. He had cuts and scrapes on his head. We heard someone say it was a suicidal incident? Don't know the whole story, but felt real glad we could help
give the guy a second chance whatever the situation!
