Attendance is a bit little light, shame it has been one of the best yet weather & water wise. We have had some really good runs so far I have logged 173 miles on the river fried a bit of gas and did some great exploring. RT is a bit bummed out his trailer broke up pretty bad had to leave the whole rig up at Georgian bay, he will fill in details. Never saw so many Donzi's up here before, Minx's, 22's, 16's and a mint 1986 blue & honey Hornet pushing 400+ HP. Carl & Patty with Patty at the wheel gave us a show and a half that girl can air borne a 22 like a fighter pilot. More input soon got to hit the rack running early tomorrow.

For the first time ever there was a Saturday Agenda, and things went south quickly .... :D

Ken believe it or not after 210 miles I still have some fuel forward and 1/2 a tank in the aft, might just have near 300 mile range with both full! Can't beat a small block!!!

Nice Pics Tim: I recognise the "Morgan Gold Cup Building" at the Clayton Museum. I'm a great supporter of the Museum. Love the "OLD" race boats but they are becoming less visable recently.. I think the "OLD" owners are getting tired....Or worse. We used to come up every year with the Minx. The place we used to stay (Four unit Motel with docks on the river) ..changed hands and that was pretty much it. Met "Cha-Chi" (Minxguy) during that time. Tried another motel down by the "Bridge" afterward but it wasn't the same. John

PS: My avatar picture was taken at Clayton aboard a 38 foot Morgan Hacker Torpedo Stern twin screw.... 1994.

Well between ailing drives, wrong pulleys, RT,s busted trailer and a few other last minute comitments we were short on people and boats. But I am willing to bet that all that did make it will say it was without doubt the very best 1K run ever. We started off a few day early at Kenny's (Minxman) Camp now formerly called a cottage as it has City Water in lieu of river water and hauling jugs, we were joined by the Canadian contingent for a great BBQ. As to the run we had excellent water conditions and great weather, Larry my bud with the island guided the group on a real nice tour and a great run back to his place for a few libations & snacks! Another treat was to see so many other Donzi's, seemed that every we turned our heads another appeared, I stayed up at my friend's island until Sat and managed to log about 400 miles and damn sure can't wait untill next years run. My friends and the River are an un beatable combo I truely love them both!

Met "Cha-Chi" (Minxguy) during that time.

That would be Cha-Chi in the group photo - middle row, white t-shirt.
He's got a yellow 22 now, but he still has the Minx if you know anyone
who may be interested. Super clean boat, but I've already got one.

"Mean Old Phil"

...and here's how 'mean' old Phil is. (gcarter will appreciate this)

Cleaning up the boat to leave the Muskokas and trailer down, I
discovered two cracks in the windshield of my Minx running from
the bottom up - just about in the middle of the centre section.

Must have slammed her pretty good on that last run to the ramp.
Debated with a friend whether we should drill 'em out to stop the
spread, but declined. Arrived in A-Bay and discussed with Minxguy -
same opinion but I declined. Was starting to feel like brain surgery,
after having owned the boat so long. Drove the boat down to Larry's
for a couple of deck sodas. MOP took one look, disappeared, and
returned with the biggest honkin' surgical device I'd seen; proceeded
down to the dock and drilled 'em out. I had trouble watching the
procedure after having read alot about these windshields from gcarter.

Happy to say, cracks have not spread even after a couple of hundred
miles of thumpin around down there and the trailer ride home.

Phil - you're the meanest S.O.B. I've ever come across. Thanks man!

Tim, I'm sorry to hear about your windshield. I hope it continues to serve you well.

Thanks George. If anybody (other than Minxguy) understands
the issue - it's you.

Thanks for doccumenting the restoration of your Minx, I refer
to it from time to time. Do you think I should buy Minxguy's
boat just to get the windshield, or am I stealing your thunder?

But.....then I'd have two gas tanks in two boats.
Your math is different - two gas tanks in one boat. LOL

True one boat with 95 gallons is better then two with 50, the extra weight did slow me a tad but I could not beat the $2.86 road price compared to the $3.40+ river prices. The only draw back was Bonnie not being happy about the boat starting to porpoise from the weight forward, I finally burned enough out of the front tank to get rid of that.

Finally catching up, as a few of you know I hurt my back pretty bad 5 days before 1K. 10 hours of driving did not help, I am finally getting around to thanking Ken (Minxman)!!!!!! I had not finished up the hook up for the forward tank, Ken stuffed himself into my bilge and completed the operation. Not a 5 minute job more like near an hour on a very hot day! Thanks Guy!

A few shots from my visit, some at Ken's Cottage & some at my buddies island. A really great place to see and to get away, some hard to beat in anyones book!
