I have read a little bit about Donzi's new 27ZR, but there's only 2 threads on there about them.

I'm looking to upgrade from my 22 classic to something that can handle the lower Chesapeake bay/ocean running and also sleep overnight on.

How much are they brand new for a 496HO version? Anyone have any first hand knowledge of them? How fast do they run on GPS?

How do they handle water over say a 33ZX?

The Donzi website doesn't even have any specs on it.

Check back and put the search word 27ZR in and you will find information about it. The 33ZX would be a far superior boat given you statement and would probably be about the same price, if you get an older one.

If you really, truly will be overnighting in it, an older 33ZX will suit your needs 10000% better than a 27ZR. I don't think you would be disappointed with the speed or handling of the 27ZR in any way. I just personally feel the cabin is VERY small on the 27ZR. So now the decision must be made...... Good luck!

I have never been on a Y2K but I believe others on the board either own one or have friends with one... can't remember. But I do know is you can get a 30' boat with a 525 for one hell of a price with the superboat.

I have ran both boats they Y2K with a 600 Merc and the Donzi 27 ZR with a 496/HO
The Y2K is a fast boat but its very light and with a 7'9 beam you get a lot of chine walk with the 600 we had her up to 85mph but scary. Also the fit and finish is not the same, more glass then fluff plain looking inside and the boat is made for speed.

The 27 ZR has a 8'4" Beam much more stable on the water at high speed, My wife was with us and said the boat felt more solid then our 26ZX running we had the boat to 72MPH with a 496/HO. Like everything Donzi Builds she has detail. We were in some real snotty conditions running this boat and she ran strong. Just like the bigger ZRs the 27 runs straight and true.
You can't really compare the 27ZR with a 33ZX two different boats the 33 ZX is a heavy boat designed for speed and luxary she also has twin engines

The Superboat is built for speed and handling the rough. It has a narrow 7' beam designed to cut through the water. It is a no-frills, basic boat designed to perform. It will be a driver's boat for sure.

The Donzi will have better fit and finish and have better ammenities. I would also think it will have a much nicer cabin. The wider beam will be more stable and forgiving.

I would guess the SB will be faster with equal power.

According to the August 2006 issue of Family and Performance BOATING magazine (which has the 27ZR as its cover boat, and a nice article about it inside), the MSRP's are:
496 Mag B1 XR 375 hp - $59,895
496 Mag HO B1 425 hp - $64,302
525 EFI B1 XR 525 hp - $85,534

Lot's of Option$ on the list

As always, dealers are free to set whatever prices they feel the local market will bear.

IMHO:

$4,407 difference between Mag and Mag HO is well worth it considering the extra 50 HP and they all have the same drive. RESALE down the road will be better for the HO. Trust me, everyone here wants the HO in their boat.
525 is for kids and not worth the $21,232 mark-up when you can spend half of that on a nice set of CMI headers, 8.1 high flow heads and springs, and a cool-looking intake cover and injector kit. Your get all the HP, at half the price. Yes, a 525 EFI would be the ultimate combo, but they will be few and far between. You can spend the fisrt $10,000 difference on bolt-on power for the HO, and the other $10,000 on options and graphics. Or put it all back in your pocket and just rocket with the HO and be VERY happy.

This was posted on another forum and several people said these WERE NOT the correct prices. A 496HO equipped 27ZR was $80k with a trailer according to a few people. Just passing along what they posted.

Maybe Chrome will chime in as he seemed to have some pricing info.

Carl is correct......the prices in that article are off by a long shot.

I am on the Tennessee river and rarely have water over 2'. The 27ZR is ideal for smooth water as well as rough. 96 degrees.....92% humidity....very light chop....freshwater.....71MPH. My wife could drive the boat at that speed and she has problems with golf carts:cool!:

I think those #'s are screwed up...... no way those are msrp's.

this article was brought up on speedwake as well and the concensus is those #'s are totaly jacked.

think about it..... a 27ZR with a 496HO listing for about the same price as a 22 Classic with an HO..... nope.

IMO, you should be low 80's for an HO boat. And right around 95K for a 525 boat. Mind you this is for boat only... no trailer included.
