Just changed the oil in my '99 454 mag . I used the oil boy. Kinda kewl. Filled up the whole cannister to the top and it needed a quart to start with. I put 7 quarts of mobil 1 V twin 20-fiddy with a new mobile 1 302 filter ( HAND TIGHTENED!) I had to wrench the old one off with some force, the old gasket was stuck to the engine.
I mounted one portable Halon 1211, one POS ABC, and when I came home from da bar the UPS man was there with my Sea Fire Halon 1301 Automatic (Engine compartment).
Tomorrow morning gonna mount it and put on my Racor fuel filter. Might have to reroute some cables for dat.
I p/u some 3M vinyl cleaner and restorer at boaters world. Will try Mr. Clean magic eraser and compare and report.
Starting to come together thanks to Y'ALL!

TY Again for all the assistance.

Arip,
You might want to change your oil every 20-30 hours of use AND then in the spring. Plus change all of the filters. I went through 3 cases of oil in one year imported from Florida.

The oil boy is good but leaves some in the pan. Send Poodle a pm and get a kit that drains out of the bottom of the pan through the drain plug hole.

Da Taz<<--Been there, done that and had to clean the bildge afterwards. Simple Green is my friend.

Taz, Nah. I'm gonna have fun with it :)
If you change your oil every 20-30 hrs and avg 50 mph that is every 1000-1500 mi. a lil excessive for me. Mobile 1 should be good for 10,000 mi(200 hrs) and I have that nice fresh lake water :)

Can you believe it? I am FULLY behind Arip. :) I change my oil ONCE a season..whether it has 18 hours on it.. (lately) ..or 100. Changing the oil more often is a complete waste of oil, ..filter..and the labor to change it, ...and an extra burden on the envioronment. I am NO TREE HUGGER either. :shocking: John

Kudos to DonziJon!!! Exxon and the oil big companys have brainwashed the rest of you pinheads ( a term of endearment ). Being an old car man did you know that VW wont change your oil till 7500mi and dats DINO! Synthetic aka mobile 1 is good for 10,000 mi. Of course they would love to have you back at Jiffy Lube or the dealer every 3000 mi.

Suckers LMFAO

Taz MP must of gave u a good deal if u had to ship motor oil. Taz, I see you're in San Ant. I always wanted to check out Canyon Lake or something along those lines. I have Thursdays and Fridays off. Are there any lakes you can beach your boat and bbq?

Marine Engines work 100% of the time and automobile engines work only when they are at torque pulling something or getting the vehicle going. The rest of the time, the engine is just keeping the inertia going. I change my oil when it gets dirty or certainly once a season.

I also only use SAE 40 weight.

Aronowrip.............you continue to amaze me! Thank you for sharing you deep insights into every subject you broach. You are one of the smartest persons we have ever had on the board.

Ted, you have the right idea, I think I'll do the same.
I still think he's a student. How else could he be so definably oblivious.
