Last time out, my s.b.c. mercury tempest lost 3-400 r.p.m. After I took the boat out of the water, I checked the plugs and wires and found #3 to be very clean. My guess is head gasket or cracked head. It still makes enough pressure to push a finger off the spark plug hole.
My next motor is almost ready. The heads ARE ready.
Should I remove heads and check things out, maybe replacing the gasket or putting my new Dart heads on.
Or, should I just run it as is for what may amount to 5-10 hours.
