well i've been having all kinds of problems with the Hawkeye. I sent it back 2 times. They sent me a new one. to make a LSS, It works out side the boat but it can't seem to shoot thru the hull "88 Minx" .it is about 5" from the transom in the center of the boat. At this point as much as I hate to drill a 3/4 hole thru my boat."But O well" !:smash:

:crossfing. I'm going to have to mount it on the transom.
I can only mount it 8 1/2 inches off center

So here some questions for my Donzi Buds???????????????

Should I mount the transducer so nothing is protruding below the hull?

you may want to try other locations in your bilge first. if there are any small air pockets / bubbles in the glass, the transducer won't read past it.
experiment with silicone on the transducer (making sure to work out any air) and see if you get any better results.
I'd like to know since I bought a Hawkeye too, and am planning to mount inside the hull

I would try farther forward, place the transducer in a plasitc bag full of water. Move it around to see if you can get s decent reading, this is best done in about 50 feet of water. Don't rely on shallow testing many times readings will disappear as depth increases.

I just mounted a humminbird just forward of the engine in my Minx.
When I look straight down in the engine compartment I can see it.
I didn't have the guts to use the epoxy so I used clear silicone.
Works great!!! I'll probably leave it alone until it acts up.
Cost me $89.99 on E-Bay...:)

All done: just going to let the epoxy cure and I'm off to test it.
