Hey, could anyone tell me the compression ratio of a 1967 2 + 3/289 engine.
It is now time to get to the project of restoring. I acquired the boat three years ago and ran it for about a week total. Runs fine but I figure since I am restoring it I might as well redue the engine if needed. Also, if I remember correctly from passed searches it seems that most people swap out the stern to a merc. Is this a good idea or great idea. reasons Thanks

Not 100% but I believe they were 8.5 compression, if it is a Volvo leave it alone they last a very long time. They are a couple of MPH short of what a later type drive will do, but like Duracell they just keep on ticking!

My 1966 was 10:1

I have a hunch this may have a Walkashaw in it along with its Eaton drive thats what makes me think it is a low compression setup.
