I don't have a Donzi anymore but I know all these props are on a lot of 22s.

I am running 5000 rpm with a standard Mirage, 4800 rpm with a Mirage Plus and 5100 with a Turbo 1 25 at WFO. I am thinking about trying a Quad IV so I can run harder in the sloppy water. Should I stick with a 25 or go down to a 24 to compensate for the larger diameter and extra blade? I'm thinking the 24 would be the better but I'd like to get some opinions.

Stock 502 Mag(415hp) and X is at 17".

Thanks

I ran Poodle's labed 23P Hydro against my labed 25P Mirage+.

The Hydro was bumping the limiter just past 5,400 RPM with a little more throttle left. Trim was not real agressive.

Later in the day my Mirage+ ran 5,300 RPM @ WOT with agressive trim.

I know this isn't really much info but if I run a Hydro I'll probably run a 24P.

I run a little north of 5000 with a 25P Mirage+ (5150 on the VDO) and a little south of 5000 on the VDO with a 24P Hodro Quad IV (4900). If you're only turning 4800 with a 25P M+ I would expect the Hydro to be lower.

What interests me is that my boat ran almost exactly the same RPM's with a M+ or a Turbo One (25P). You're reporting quite a difference.

Botom line: If you think you can pull a 25P three blade well you'll want to try a 24P four blade Hydro, maybe even a 23 if your revs are at the low end of the range.

I turn around 5000 with a 23' QIV. 4800 with a 25" Ballistic. King Cobra drive has a 1.43:1 ratio, so your numbers may be different. I need to find someone that has installed a nosecone to the lower unit to see if it helps.

With the Hydo on, I can pull trees out of the ground!!

Isn't the Turbo a smaller diameter then the Mirage+? Result being that it would spin at a higher RPM with the same power and pitch.

I'm with Ranman, the RPM difference netween the M+ and the Turbo are surprising. Were they both purchased new, or used?

Two things, I could trim the Mirage + to 5000 but it was no faster. My boat needs VERY LITTLE positive trim.

Also, the Turbo I have is an older Turbo 26. When I called Turbo they said it would be the equivelant to a new Turbo 1 25. So, I am just going by what they said. The M+ came with the boat.

Yes the Turbo is a 14.25 and the M+ is a 14.5 but it really shouldn't be 300 rpm difference. But, like I said I could trim the M+ to 5000 but I quit gaining speed after 47-4800.

At the speeds you are running, a nose cone is not needed. Indeed, it will most likely cost ya mid range.. Might improve handling though...

Those props can be quite different and still be within spec's compaired to a Hydro.
