Volvo and the Jim Wynne connection. But more importantly, as a sales ploy to royalty. Donzis had symbols of various heraldry on them.

Hey, That boat looks a little familiar.

Here's a better shot of the Swedish flag.

I've wondered about this..
Richard Weaver said my '68 takes the British flag..
At what point did they switch over from the Brit emblem to the current Dolphin/logo?

They switched logos in the early seventies, 70-72?

Donzi raced in the international Miami-Nassau races so that is the best reason I have heard for the British flag. The only way to nail the logo change is to study the Donzi production brochures. Here is the the X-18 brochure with the first X-18 ever produced, someone who was selling it claimed.
Its low resolution but in its introduction it had the dolphin/lion logo.
My 1973 shift knob has dolphin/lion logo.
I think it changed 1972.

Patrick, I think you will find the "Swedish" connection has more to it than just that. Keep in mind, one of the FIRST 16 DONZI's went to Sweden for a test, including the Volvo AQ110, (4 cyl) out back for an article in '65.

Where are those pics, dammit, I will find 'em. :D

Patrick you need to find Tomron in Sweden. He owns that boat and is connected to many more. :) Also, there is Staffan Berg as well, in Sweden

The LAST pic is Hull #1 of the 16. This pic from Brownie. Note the Swedish badge and similarities to the test boat in Sweden. I would tend to lean towards Sweden being given recognition, both for the Volvo connection and the drive placement and engine layout. (In the EARLY days. :)

Please note that both boats have 2 blade props. Reversed signage tho, and Fla one with waterline stripe.

Nice! Actually I was supposed to begin working at the publishing house that owns "Teknikens Värld" this spring! wierd... but I choose another job.. (www.teknikensvarld.se) it is a car magazine today :(

Volvo and Donzi seems to try alot of engines and drives between these years, so the conection is pretty clear know.. Thanks!
I actually looked at Thomas Rönnberg's Donzi a couple years ago, very nice!!

Don Aronow has only been to Sweden once (I think), the boat he were racing in then is still running here in Stockholm!!

You guys have to visit Sweden and see the Donzi history for your selfs! My Donzi will be here at your disposal.. or you can borrow my Walker Bay.. :) :) :)
