Bill, Jackson is aware that their rescheduled date for their run has generated some attendence issues....but the Jackson Run is not the same kinda run or gathering as our Donzi Registry based Regional Based Club gatherings... anyway.

Jackson is always fun to do...because its close and comparitively inexpensive to participate...but it never has had the response or brought the really true Donzi Enthusiast out ...ever! I wish we could attend...but Winnie is always the last Saturday in July...so it is what it is.

Sue : Winnie is a blast... good people, beautiful Lake...and some incredible homes to view. The Lake has to be respected... it is oriented East to West so if prevailing winds blow too long... the Wider Areas of the Lake "The Broads" can be down right punishing.:spongebob

Ironically...last year Lake George was the rougher of the two Lakes...normally George is easy and calm...but both the DustOff and the Fall Picnic... we had pretty serious wind and/or rain...made for a different experience there for sure.

Both Lakes are great...and are synonymous with the East Coast Donzi Family of Events.... alot of the same people attend both Events.

Hope You and Art can make it!

Jamie sorry to hear you won't make it, but I understand your relationship to Jacksons...

Let's all try to keep the posts to those who are actually attending Lake Winnie... no disrespect to Jacksons Run...but this is the Lake Winnie Thread!

Thanks Good Luck Jamie and Bill....:wavey:

No problem. My intention was not to take over the thread. I really did not think it was that big of a deal. I was not trying to promote the Jackson run in the Winnie thread. I just wanted to respond to Bill's post that I would be there as well after I read his. Sorry if this bothered you. I dont think it was Bill's intention either. Catch you later. Have a great time at Winnie! Jamie

:smash: Special Awards will be given out during the Cook Off Portion... we will be awarding the Top Finishers with a Unique Donzi Lake Winnie Edition BBQ Apron. These will be offered only to those who participate with a secret Smoker or BBQ Recipe'... soooo bring your "A" game...

I can vouch for Culotta... he's gonna be very tough to beat... but fear not...there will be multiple awards. But no award for Dry Cereal or Pop Tarts... sorry Brad.

Should be a great time. Extra Points will be given for the Chef who also brings a complimenting Bottle of Wine to sample with their wares?

Less than 60 Days away.... :spongebob

:spongebob John ya scare me when ya talk like that... I have room in my boat...not sure if we are doing it this year yet or not...but last two years each boat did a Theme Costume Dress Up...of course my boat sports all Teal Scrubs...which I provide...and someone always has to play head Nurse...I provide the Stethiscope, last year Ken Lessard was kinda enough to lend me his wife...:p ...he's such a good sport.:biggrin.:

You are welcome in our boat...most stay at Christmas Island... there is always plenty of Festivities...and boats...last year we had over 12 22 Classics...we looked like a Donzi Squadron... it was impressive... except for the Knats that always wanted to run me... its a problem... :bonk:

Fly into Manchester Airport if ya can...unless ya have business at Logan. Alot nicer Airport and less hassle over all. Winnie is about an Hour and a half depending on Traffic ... we can connect and get ya really screwed up before ya arrive.

I normally am up there on Thursday ... might pull another Day if Culotta needs me to...my Cell is 717-512-3656... schedule your Doctors Appointment Early... cuz I book up fast... I am cool like that, don't believe me just ask me?:spongebob

:spongebob So am I the only one who thinks someone who literally lives on the Lake, Near party Central (The Naswa) and is by far one of the mainstay personalities of the Lake Winnie Poker Run and his own Infamous Scavenger Hunt....would have a bit more to say than this?

I would have expected more... possibly some pics of the Lake, maybe some glory stories of days gone by... maybe a small commentary of how very cool this Lake is and the deep rooted Donzi Passion of the Winnie Bandits.. which are unfrotunately out wandering somewhere on Terminal Good Behavior!

I'm patient I'll wait....

Yes the Winni Bandits are in good behavior mode, not quite sure I understand why:confused: We'll have to work on that by the end of July:beer:

Janet and I are really looking forward to the gathering.

My first Donzi experience was back in 65 when I use to race endurance water ski races on Wini. 50 mile races could get really interesting if the broads blew up:shocking: . Well in 65 I found someone with a 16 Donzi to pull me, unfortunately he didn’t know the lake or how to drive for ski racing and I didn’t have my best of races, but that Donzi was sweet.

BTW what is a typical route for the Poker run?

:bonk: Don...Sorry for the Terminal Delayed response ...I have been out of Town for the last week or so and the Registry was down for at least 3days prior to my departure so...anyway.

Yes...book now at Christmas Island or Naswa...I think Ken Lessard is staying at the Island.

RvR...as to the Typical route... its basically a Tour of the Lake, Alton Bay some private residences and a blast through the Witches...and then back to the Naswa for fun and games. Each year it changes a bit.

Welcome Back! :lookaroun

Life has been throwing me a few curve balls & I did not think that there was any way I would be able to come up for the weekend. As of today, I decided that I was coming up anyway. I will be driving up on Thursday & leaving on Monday morning. This is my second donzi gathering & I can hardly wait!!!!!! I will be coming with my best friend "Bo" & I am just now trying to find a place to stay. He is unable to walk to far & has a hard time going up stairs. The Naswa has rooms but they are way up on a hill. As of tonight, I have not been able to find a place to stay. If any one knows the area & knows of a decent place to stay, please let me know. It would be appreciated since I do not know the area. Hopefully I will find a place tomorrow & will get to see everyone at Lake Winnie.

Now, some info! Bo & I both grew up on the water & from the time we both had our first boats (around age 7) we have always had a great time trying to see who was better at handling different boats. We are both in our 50's & we are both still trying to be the best. When I first got my 22' & told Bo that I was having allot of trouble handling the boat, he laughed & gave me a long talk on how a pro would handle it. Of course the pro he was talking about was him. He has never run a 22 except for mine & he ran my boat once for about 10 minutes. Now I know that I am getting better, but I need ALLOT more seat time. Since Bo will never read this, I can tell everyone that he has always run boats better, but I will never admit this to him because it would end all of the fun. The big question is how he will do in the 22'. SO! any one that feels comfortable is more than welcome to let us know how well each of us is doing. Bo & I love the competition & it is all just for fun!

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sue, you are in good hands.
Bo, you are about to see that you have been moved to second place in boat handling skills, below Sue.
Sue, listen, listen, and listen again. Then do what seems right to you. You will learn how to master the boat, just as you did your first bicycle at one time. Just make sure that you allow one person that you trust to show you what your boat is capable of.
There are a lot of old wise sayings in this business; but my favorite is to never ride with a Captain that is braver than you are.

Winni is always a great time, phenomenol people and incredible Libations and Eats... I mean what more could you ask for except maybe good weather...I will leave that to someone elses hands.
