I am looking for a nice condition Classic 22' that meets the following specifications:
1. No windshield or windshield cowling molded into the deck. I think I may be talking early 1980's vintage (1982) but I do not know specifically when they started molding in the windshield cowling.
2. Big Block power preferred, but small block is OK.
3. Must be a fresh water boat.
Thanks,
Don

Don,
There is a short period of time in '83 when the windsheild combings were bolted on instead of molded in. That must be a "transitional" period.

Hope this helps.

OMG, I'm going to a 22 and now so is Don. I concede the 18 grudge match, let's start a 22 grudge match. LOL

Wes, I am not conceding the 18' grudge match. Nor am I leaving the 18' camp, it is still my favorite Donzi and it will stay my main ride. I am making sure that I can spank your butt in the 22' Grudge match if you leave the 18' camp. I think a blower on my new engine in a 22 should move it along reasonably well.

Jim, thank you for the kind offer, but I have my mind set on this particular syle of Donzi boat. (Did I really say that ??)

Bertram Boy. I would consider a transitional boat if the holes that bolted on the housing can be removed and the hull finished without the cowling.

Thanks,

Don

The boat you pictured does have beautiful lines but there is a third option besides a windshield or weenie bar. That is the Aronow Edition/Anniversary Edition/GT/Shelby (whew) aluminum fairing. This gives you plenty of wind in the face but also gives you something to clamp the wind-aways to when it's not so hot out or to keep the ladies happy. Also, I'd remove "small block" from your list of requirements. You ain't gonna win any grudge matches with one of those!

I agree with Don, a 22 looks killer without a windsheild and coaming.

Here's another pic.

BTW. Carl, Technology is the replacement for displacement.........:)

That's got to be a TRS package from the way it sits in the water...

BTW. Carl, Technology is the replacement for displacement.........:) OK, it can be done. A supercharged double overhead cam, four valve 5.4 Ford Cobra motor w/nitrous MIGHT get you in the ballpark. But, put the same cash into an all aluminum bored and stroked BBC or Viper V-10 will make you faster! (IMNSHO)

Don

I recently replaced my windshield and while having everything off it looked like a totally different boat. It looked great but it had the molding. I have not seen one until Bertram Boy's attached pic which looks bad ass. So good luck in your quest

BTW. Carl, Technology is the replacement for displacement.........:) Remember we're discussing a 22 here. 18? 16? Small block for sure. 22? gotta be a big block. Minx? Don't know what the heck they run. Are there any really fast small block 22s here? I'm not being cocky, would really like to know.

Jim,
That boat was on Ebay in July of 2002. The desciption called it an '81.
