The cats on the island are gonners also. They can spread the virus as this has been in the news lately. A couple of months ago was my 1st time to the Keys. It's probably the only time I will see the free range chickens and cats. Oh ya, free range fruits & nuts are all over the place also. :eek!: I bet the deer on the island further up get to stay however.

As usual, the filtered news media only tells you the part of the story that they want you to hear. The link below, is a very good unfiltered story.

I also read another story about PETA and the chickens in Key West. Now I'm no tree hugger, but finally this PETA idea seems like a good one. They want to inoculate the chickens and tag them. There is no way to store all them chickens and expect decent treatment of them. Oh and by the way, KFC doesn't want them either. They were bread originally for cockfighting and are not the soft fatty type we like to eat. Anyway, the proposal is this, the innoculation will allow the chicken to develop it's own antivirus and will also steralize the chicken. The idea is to allow all the chickens to live the rest of their paradise life in the tropics, not get sick, & not breed. No breeding, no more chickens eventually
