hi all havent been around here much but thought id let you all know

I left my house at 6:00am today, had suregry at 9:45 and spent the rest of the time in a bed until 7pm because I COULD NOT PISS lol. i finally did and they let me go home.

dr nachwalter of atlantic spine specialist is one of the best DR's in the nation and if you live in the tri state area and have a back problem USE HIM!!

http://www.atlanticspinespecialists.com/

as some of you know i have been down and out since october I have to thank everyone that felt for me in my time of need without you guys and my friends i dont know if i would have kept such a good outlook.

unfortunately I do not know if i will ever ride again.

my surgery going in had 3 hypothesis

1 i had a sith on my bone and it was pinching my nerve all that would have to be done is grind the sith off.

2 my disc was torn off and pinching my nerve and all they would have to do is fish out the broken piece.

3rd, my herniation was so large they would have to cut my disc to alleviate the pressure, which would be the hardest to recover from.

#2 was the problem and I am very lucky that was my problem.

the only reason i am in pain is because of the cut he had to make to fish out my broken off disc.

All i have to say about having a back problem is DO NOT GO BY WHAT OTHER PEOPLE TELL YOU TO DO. sometimes surgery is not the only answer. but you have to realize alot of people are scared to death of going under the knife and have a biased opinion because of that.

I say this, make sure you research everything yourself and make sure you have all option exhausted before surgery.

EMG TESTS are not nessacary(they stick pins in your back and test reaction time with your leg etc.

from what my doctor told me emgs are painful and MRI's will superceed any positive emg. if the emg is pos and mri is negative they will go by the MRI

i am happy i am done with this, now all i have to do is recover.

i have had a very hard time turning 30 with my back pain and also, on january 14th my father passed away from a heart attack so keeping my spirit high was very hard for me. I cried alot because of my injured state of physical shape andwith my father passing away. this all makes me stronger.

not really sure whats going to happen to moody, i have tried to ask for help on here a couple times for a deck off but it seems no one can help. on other occasions i have seen people jump at the chance to help someone, not for me though. maybe thats why the forum has slowed down, because people see biased help. i dunno i been here for a long time so that dont phase me much just pointing it out. im just not so sure i think its proper. but neither is life.

so rght now i need a tank and my oil pan is shot on my motor, and i dont htink i will have the eneergy to perform either task this year. so im not sure.

I could go and buy a short block =501 stroekr w and drop that in (kills my oil pan problem) but i still need a tank...'

how about those kevlar tanks? can i just drop one in? i still need tot take out the old one? which i dont know whwere to start. so im back to ground zero.. who knows maybe sopmeone will help me out this time?

I also need a gelcoat repair guy to fix the rear part of my hull where its cracked. i figure the best time to fix this is when they are both separated. im just not sure about the gel coat match

so i guess the time to do that would need to be accounted. I really dont want to feel pressured to get the boat out of the area in a certain amount of time. I planned on cleaning the entire inside up re wireing the entire boat with new wire and circuit breakers etc. reinforcing the transom etc..

i guess it will be set on the back burner until i find my own house with a huge garage.

sadly, the motor has to be pulled to put a new oil pan on it and i dobt i willbe in any condition to do that or a deck off maybe i will i hope so.. ive always been held up workin on my boat cuz of no garage

Hi Moody;
Here's hoping your recovery time is smooth&minimal.

Do what the Doc says, and when you get your rig back operational, you may want to not jump the boat so high like you did in your pics.(That was on my computer-screen for awhile..)
Stay positive, and keep thinking about the hum from your H/M that will happen again..

If you were closer, my garage would be open. But I'm way out here in the PNW.
But don't whine about what you haven't asked. We are here. If we can be. It is no fault of ours if you don't ask the right questions. Ask the right questions.
And then we will see what can be done. I say this because you think the family has failed you. It hasn't. We are all here. And help is one phone call away.

This is mine.

thanks guys but i really need a place where i am close to my area for work.
i cant seem to find anyone in the nj area that has some space available. I plan on working on the project straight through once started so being close by my house or work is part of the plan. unless someone knows a good place to replace my tank for under 1000 bux and possibly giving me an estimate on my busted deck.
I woudl think because of the damage of my deck i would have to rebuild the area around the damage which requires the deck to be off(re application of fiberglass layers) this is the only way i can see the deck being brought back to 100% i also have two other areas which i will fix so the deck is back to original shape(the two manifold cut outs my boat has)
bill i laughed out lod when you said that haha nice.
matty you know the damage im talkin about right?

I thought you were talking about strees cracks in the back seat area,
yeah I think that damage will be easier to repair with the deck off

come on now i wish that was my problem

bring it to michigan... i'll make room and replace the tank and fix that damage... but i am not sure how far you are going to get on 1000 dollars... unless you do the work yourself...

you can repair that fromt he top BUT it'll just be a patch or bandaid... may or may not come through the repair under stress... is the coring and the inner glass layer cracked also?

if you get a STOCK 25 gallon tank from Florida Marine Tanks you'll be about 325 bucks by the time it is made and delivered... plus the foam which is i donno how much... and the primer to prime it so that it does not corrode will run about another 100 or so... probably have another 50 - 100 in the materials to fix the glass...

if you decide to go with a larger tank in order to feed more HP you'll be looking at nearly 500 dollars by the time the tank is delivered...

how much do you plan to spend on that stroker... spending some of that cash on the deck repair and fuel tank may be a wise choice... don't skimp if you can help it eh...

im not skimping on it at all, if i lift the deck im cleaning everything rewiring everything, it wont take long to do that reinforce the stringers/transom will take some time repaint the hull etc

ill spend top dollar on the product because i know i can work with some helpful hands and get the job done. im pretty sure i can do the fiberglass repair work on the damaged area and where the hatch is cut as well. im more concerned about matching the gel coat. other then this damage the gel coat is original and in good shape if i polish it so im very skeptical about painting it because of this one area. but im worried about gel coat matching the color.

this is why i kicked myself so much right before the boat fell because it was perfect and now it has this big flaw i just hope i can fix it and get the gel coat matched right.

rootsy your idea is not that bad you are kind of far but hey i know you know these boats and im sure would lend a helping hand. im not sure its clsoe enough but ill keep it in mind. I know i can knock this prject out and finish it, all i need is the tank and all the bilge paint updated parts new rub rail, quality wire for equipment, acc, gauges, gps,

my motor has so much rust on it underneath the headers because of the bad paint job it had when it was a fresh bored block and i "thought" the paint would be ok. i painted everything else but the block and i wish i painted the block.honestly i woudl be better off taking out the motor and dropping in the 501 stroker so everything is new and use the 351 w as a mustang motor or sell it or trade it for a ASD6 drive plus cash. I really want to do that setup since geos is sold though im kind of a little lost on that one but still want to do it.

I may be selling my race bike soon because of my back so i will have some loot to spend on the boat and car...

this all helps though. if i find a plac ein nj i wouldnt be able to work on it until my back was better anyway. i hope I find a place or find a house to live in with a big garage

moody,

if you look at the red mistress... just the stringer and transom work alone... there is about $800 in materials and almost 150 hours of my time and a abour 45 hours of other folks time in there also... the deck coring is another 5 - 600 bucks in materials and probably another 150 hours of time... the tank you can probably replace on a long weekend, unless you go larger then you have to move the bulkhead... if you plan to rewire the deck, do structural glass work to the bilge and fix the deck you are going to need a long term storage place unless you can afford to hammer it for 6 hours a day after work and 10 hours a day on the weekends solid... it's a large undertaking and not for the faint of heart, not hard.. just time consuming and tedious sometimes, fiberglass takes a bit of finesse i've found out...

you'll have to flip the deck and have some sort of cradle to support it when you do the glass work on it as well as the wiring... minimum area to work on this boat is going to be 30 feet in depth and at least 25 feet in width... if you hope to have a work bench and enough room to walk around it... if you keep th edeck and hull next to each other...

also keep in mind.. that unless you plan on having a heated garage to work in where you can get it at least 65 to 70 degrees you'll need to be doing this work in the late spring, summer and early fall... otherwise you are gonna have a helluva time with the fiberglass resin...

before i even began this work i'd get to wet sanding / compounding / polishing the glass to see what condition you can get it back into... it'll be easier to match the gelcoat / paint that way...

i'll be wiring the mistress pretty soon... i plan on it taking me 2 solid days to get the deck laid out and wired and stuff in the bilge laid out and wired...

hope that helps you a bit... get yourself healed up then worry about it... getting aggressive and hurting yourself again just isn't worth it...

Moody, real sorry to hear about your dad, then the back complication, I feel real bad for you. Take your time on the boat, take time with your back. I hear Florida sun is good, time to visit your friend in Boca.

ya rootsy, i could just bang it out all at once but i wouldnt mind to do it at my leisure. i do have a good friend that would be able to help me re do the stringers and transom.

i know its not a quick project, i plan on doing it though and dont really want to be stressed to finish it before any deadlines then be screwed. i want to take my deck off once and finish everything hoopefully ill find someone close or a house for sale with a great garage or a little barn or warehouse. so i can do it in my leisure

Moody, sounds like you love that boat. I say keep it, get your health back and then tackle the projects. Maybe by then you can track down a place to do the work.

Moody, sorry for your loss and take your time to heal, if you can get the dimensions of your tank I can make a stainless one, I have a bit of 304 1/8 plate laying around and it needs a use.

thanks everyone for showing your support.

hmm stainless steel gas tank?

im not sure the weight would be helpful into attaining higher speed? has anyone weighed stainless 40 gallin tanks compared to aluminum tanks? im sure theres like a 20 pound difference? let me know...
