Six years, 500 million euros, 918 meters long.......now this is engineering!

A bunch of hot boats idling accross it would be a way cool photo!

Why didn't they dredge a canal and install a lock if needed? How deep is this thing? It could be deep enough for flat bottom "river barges" but certainly not deep enough for "ships". How could this structure possibly support such immense weight? Egads, I need a drink.:confused: :boggled: :eek:

true,,, it only needs to support the water. the boat displaces the water so it doesnt matter how haevy the boat is.

if the boat runs aground,, now thats a different matter
