Anyone have statistics on fuel economy of a 330HP 454Mag at various RPM's in a 22ft around 3200lbs? Does 1.3MPG overall sound reasonable?

Sounds low. I went 90 miles in a 22 Donzi 330 horse and burned 46 gallons of gas, which figures to 1.95 mpg.

The tests in the link below show just over 3MPG on a higher HP engine.

Sounds low. I get over 2.0mpg average on my 29' 7000lb cruiser with a single 454 310hp.

Mine is fuel injected though, so with carbs I'd probably be a bit lower. But still, on a 22, I think you're running rich.

Now that I think of it, I ran that 90 miles or so with only seven cylinders firing, so I should have done even better.

Most of the basis for fuel economy was at idle speed to around 1200RPM, with a few very short periods of full throttle due to speed restrictions on the Intercoastal waterway here. I think economy would be much better planing rather than "plowing".
