Hey guys i know this not about a Donzi, but you all have helped me through alot of situations. I have purchased a New Formula and now fighting to get better insurance rates. Does anyone have any suggestions on insurance companies to try to get quotes from? If you can post their email addresses that would be great. If no email address phone numbers will be ok. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Andy

I have Progressive as well. Have had it for the past eight years or so. I'm 64years old which is good. Older is less Risky. I have an "86 Minx with an "Agreed To Value" policy. Agreed to Value" is NOT the norm. ACV is the norm. "Actual Cash Value". The insurance company decides what your boat is worth at the time of loss.

In my case, I think the "Agreed To" value for the Minx is $13,000. That means that upon total loss, the agreed to value....agreed to between ME and the insurance company will be paid... regardless of the ACV. I can't recall what the Liability coverage is. That item was the most important to me. The rate last year was $244.00. Obviously : 'Results May Vary." JOHN

Progressive here on the Atlantic Coast, Ft. Lauderdale area. Most will not even write coverage. About $800.00 for 25 Sea Ray, and 21 Donzi 454Mag

As a Marina owner I have seen a few of my clients Who had Progressive on their boats that turned in boating claims treated unfairly in my opinion with the payouts for repairs. Although it was mainly the case for exterior dammages from storms & such..

Ed (undertaker) is right I also would recomend Stephanie @ Jackson marine (410-287-9400) they are also friends of ours.. If they cant help Try Erie insurance or Allstate, From what I have seen their care of the customer has been pretty good....

The fuel and insurance prices I can live with, but the snow... I can't stand it! 2005/06 has been the coldest winter since World War II...

I have Allstate My premium is 478.00 a year with full replacement value with a $500.00 deductable and I am going to get a quote from Charter lakes just for the hell of it. I have my charter insurance with them, right reasonable on a 36 year old Hatteras.
I know a lot of companies will not write any boats that go to fast over 50 and have too much HP. Even though i have a 50ton master USCG License and experience out the Wazoo.

Progressive insures Yippy Kay Yay. State Farm had my Auto insurance. They wouldn't insure the Donzi. State Farm won't insure my home either. Its within500 feet of Pensacola Bay. Nationwide is my homeowners.

Guys thanks so much for your input. I have contacted almost all of your suggestions and will make my decision today. The lowest has come in around the 750.00 range. Which i think is about right. 1% i think is the norm of insurance.

On another note I WILL continue to read and post with you guys. I am getting sad about the Z leaving the family. It has been a really great boat. I will again one day be a Donzi owner of teh CLASSIC form.

Happy Boating
