Volvo 275 outdrive?

Does anyone know what a Volvo 275 outdrive is? I have heard of 250's, 270's 280's etc. but not a 275. A couple of pics attached. I believe it was on a 1987 boat. thks, Ed

That is a 270 drive to look at. The silver and decal and all means "newer" when other drives (290's , etc) were available.

You got me, but as far as I know, VOLVO never changed numbers (for an instant, to reflect drive ratio through a model offering.

That would be like a BRAVO being a 1:65 instead of a BRAVO.

I think 275 means a newer, upgraded version of the 270 from VOLVO and does not reflect any gear ratio employed in the lower.

Supposedly it was from a 4cyl (Volvo AQ131), I was told the numbers on the attached label are: s/n 310203472 275A 2,15 853575
If the ratio is 2.15, does that mean it would not be a good drive for a
small block V8 -- difficult to prop properly?? It is for sale and i was thinking it might be a good backup for the 250 when we restore the '69 18.

I thought so,,,,you can always have the gears changed,,,with that ratio you will never be able to prop it....it looks in nice shape and if you can ge it cheep enuff it may be worth it...

matty,i dont know when they changed the serial # format but i have seen alot of thease drives on the back of bayliners with the 4cyl pkg tho.

Info comes from a poster/chart that shows all the Volvo drives. Got it througha Volvo dealer in Whitby a couple of years ago.
