I have freind who collects Porsches & Ferraris. His comment to me was that the best time to buy a colector car from someone is when they just finished restoring it. They know that they can never get the money out of it. I love you boat and the color is just right too. It's a nice engine package and must run well.

You might have the same problem many have, when they sell a nicely modified engine & boat package. I had a 1987 Z-25 that was absolutely perfect. I had spent $42,000 on the entire restoration [roject and it was rebuilt from front to back, new engine, wiring, uphosltry & outdrive. I sold it for $24,000. Even though my vessel was a NEW 1987 boat, the regular run of the mill Z-25 was going for $15,000 at the time; so, I was thrilled to get a premuim for it.

Good luck, your boat seems nice!

What's the difference in a Testarossa and a regular 22 Classic?
What's it rated to carry? Number of people and weight
Is trailer serviceable for 1 trip to Atlanta?
Any more information appreciated by post or email.
Thanks,
Jimmy

Testarossa is all red (hull bottom, sides, top, and cockpit). The interior seats are gray with red piping.

In my opinion this boat is a good deal... To put the External steering on alone has got to be over $3,000. The exhaust is also upgraded (It looks like dry exhaust, but I could be wrong).

It is dry exhaust the boat drives and runs great it was just to big for my lake.
My cat is much better suited for the lake size.

Hi Metraman,

I am Maarten "Donzee" van Donselaar from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

I am intersted in buying your 22 TestaRossa. I need to find out what it would cost me to ship it to Europe.

I am in Ann Arbor a few times per year, so not a problem to arrange an inspection. Is it possible to go for a "testdrive"?

Please email me at maarten AT vandonselaar dot com

many thanks,

Maarten

What lake are you on? I am on the Portage chain and was thinking of getting a 22 sometime in the future. I have never owned one, do you think that it would be too big for my lakes?

metraman
01-29-2008, 05:11 AM
I live on Belleville lake I ran it for 2 years and It didn't seem large for my lake. With the right prop it will get up pretty quick and it's large enough to go to the big lakes.

Does the boat have an Alpha drive? If so, has it held up to the BBC? Could you send me some detailed recent pictures to me at DGILL25960@aol.com? I am trying to find a nice 22' for my best friend from my old college days. Bill

Bill, this is one of the other ten TRs...They all had the very first Bravos on the market. All but 98 Shovel's that is....his is the last one and came w/a King Cobra and a 460 Ford.

George,
Isn't one of the biggest differences in the first Bravos is that they do not have an oil return passage to the top end? I ran into this problem when I recently installed an IMCO Xtreme Advantage lower unit on my 1989 Bravo on my 23' Eliminator Daytona. I called IMCO and they told me I would have to plug the hole in the IMCO - I had actually already done it since I couldn't figure a way around it short of buying a newer upper. Bill

The only things I know for sure is it drains out the front of the prop shaft bullet like an Alpha, and there's no internal (inside) oil reservoir. When I start to refinish mine, I'll split it and find out. Don't hold your breath on this, it'll be awhile.

I know times are bad but this is ridiculous. If anyone is looking for a nice 22' make me a offer I want to get this out of my shop. I really don't want to go thru the hassle at E-Bay. It's in Michigan and has not been in salt water since it was rebuilt.

I can help with craigslist if you decide to post there.

Big Pictures, nicer looking type, etc.

On a "specialty item" like a 22 Classic, people will be more attracted to big pictures, rather than the postage stamp size they allow.

Well I guess I'm going to put this on e-bay what do you guys think a fair starting price might be?

My main word of advise for you is to take a ton of pictures. your boat is nice, but it doesn't show well online because your description and pictures, to be blunt, suck.

A good ad will add a few grand to your final bid. :)

yeller
04-24-2009, 02:39 PM
I personally have a hard time believing this boat is still for sale.

Although I won't be as blunt as Vette, your pictures are too small to be of much use to anyone seriously looking.

I would also request that this ad be deleted and you start a new one. Anyone seeing it for the 1st time could be scared off simply because it dates back to 2006.

metraman
04-24-2009, 08:29 PM
I've had a lot of requests for pictures which I've sent. I would think anyone interested would ask for more than most people post anyway. Maybe people are worried with the age of the boat but I would think the price is right. It's a good thing I really didn't need to get rid of it.

:garfield::garfield::garfield: I would have loved to buy your boat. I thought it was very nice the day I went to look at it. Unfortunately, My financal postition would not let me have the loan to buy it. May be in A few mounths if you still have it, I will be able to purchace it from you. I'm cought up in this financial crunch we are going through and I just lost my home.

I really wanted your boat!! I can aford it, but Can't get A loan.

I've actually been watching (lurking) this string since I purchased my skisporter last year. While I did make a great deal, I would have jumped all over this: a) had I seen it first; b) had the photos been hi-res, large ones, showing the positives and negatives; and c) had the 'bottom line' price been there. Just saw how an early 18 rolled in and out. Check out the description and the photos. Frankly, yours is priced right and I'd be surprised if a fresh re-list with a slew of photos wouldn't make it jump. Heck, if I could turn over the 16 quickly, well, hm..........
hit me off-list.

In fairness to Metraman, B and C are irrelevant based on A.:)

Nonetheless, a new ad could help move this 22. The February '06 start date may lead some to believe it's no longer for sale, when they read the first post.

Good luck Metraman, real sharp boat.

alright,
this is probably going to get me in trouble, but i feel i must make a statement
here:(
i looked at this dz a few years ago. i am not an expert but these were my observations: smelled gas everywhere... tank is prob. ok....don't know
int. and gauges needed
painted hull. some where between orange and red...:(
transom gel cracked below drive
no name engine builder no proven combo
nice/ok boat but showing its age
these comments are in NO way meant to cause harm. just observations....
the boat is ok. all dz are in my opinion. after all they are dz!!!!!!!!
if one questions my statements, look at the length of time this 22 has been for
sale. i'm sure others have looked and not said any thing. ok boat. price not ok.
sorry for being honest. again, just my observations.......:(

I'm sure I will get in trouble for this comment as well. I looked at this boat 1 1/2 years ago. 21 GT comments are exactly spot on. Boat is way over priced and needs restoration. This boat reminds me of the boat G Carter bought from Todd Smith in Ohio before he started the full restoration project. At least G Carter's boat had the orginal engine, steering wheel, battery hold downs and other factory od's and ends still on it. Sorry to be so blunt but this boat needs alot of work, hence the boat being for sale for 3 years.

metraman
05-18-2009, 07:54 AM
Well for one thing the gas smell the boats been under a plastic cover with 50 gallons of gas in it for 2 years this might be some of the reason if smells of gas. No name engine builder no proven combo the boat runs great 72 MPH as for the cracks do you think if should have a warranty for $15,000. Money has not been an issue I had plans to ship the boat to Florida but my association decided not to allow lifts in our marina. As for the coments if their not ment to cause harm why say them. Do you inspect boats for a living?
Thanks
